It is true that many collectors channel their love and their

engagement with minerals, fossils, shells, etc. creating remarkable
collections. In Piraeus eg collector Mr. Anastasios Megas has
created one of the best and richest collections of seashells in the
world, but others have created remarkable collections that are a real
wealth of knowledge. In some cases some collectors in
collaboration with other scientists and Bodies exposing them to
more general knowledge. Enough efforts have been and are in the
right direction - after knowledge "transferred" as baton - and one of
the most notable of these efforts is Collector Fossils and researcher
Mr. Astrinos II. Damianaki which with pleasure and honor mention
at issue this.
Is a moral obligation to support those collectors with taste have
managed to create - through their collection - a piece of knowledge
to the younger generations. We express our admiration and our
respect for all who channel their love in Geosciences in creative
whether it's mineral collection, whether collected fossils, whether
for collection of shells, whether earthquake prediction method BAN
etc.

Fossils from Panasos ,Crete Island in the Natural History Museum of Crete

On 2016.07.27 it was inaugurated at the Natural History Museum of Crete - University of Crete, the important
exhibition for geo-biodiversity of Crete, where evidence both of geological and biological evolution of our island
from the depth of time until nowadays is presented. Prominently located in the Hall is a showcase with my own
findings. The fact that my findings will be seen by people from all over the world, is for me a moral satisfaction.
My big congratulations to all who contributed to the realization of this project, which is a gem for the Museum and
for our city. In particular, I would like to congratulate and to thank the person responsible for the biodiversity of
the Museum Dr. Charalampos Fassoulas for his contribution, for his innovative ideas and for our long-term
excellent cooperation.
