K to 12 program and Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track

What is K to 12 program? The K to 12 program covers 13years of basic education
with the following key stages, kindergarten to Grade three, Grade four to Six, Grade Seven
to 10 (the junior high school), Grade Eleven and twelve (Senior High School). We are now

implementing twelve years of basic education because the Philippines is the last country in
Asia and one of only three countries worldwide with a 10-year pre university cycle (Angola
and Djibouti are the other two.) A 12-year program is found to be the best period for
learning under basic education. It is also the recognized standard for students and
professionals globally. How will K to 12 affect the College Curriculum? The College General
Education Curriculum will have fewer units. Subjects that have been taken up in Basic
Education will be removed from the College General Education Curriculum. But in the strand
offer for the K-12 there is the TVL track, if we choose this track we will allow to earn a
National Certificate II that we can use as credentials in applying for a job if we wants to
work after the Senior High School Graduation. Yet if the student will study further, he/she
can pursue the TVL track and earn a bachelors degree in related fields.
The based in my outline the tech-voc is divided into four strands the Home
Economics Strand, Information and Communication Technology Strand, Agri-fisheries Strand
and last the Industrial Arts. When we choose the TVL track these four strands our choices
for what we are like to study for our specialization. But in this school the offer for the TVL is
only one strand that is the Industrial Arts and the specialization is Welding (SMAW) it mean
Shielded Metal Arc Work (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), cause this is our strand I can defined
to do this and these require a high degree of skill and advanced materials-hating, melting
and joining these composites together. There are several different ways to weld, some
involve amazing machinery and revolutionary technology, including electron beams, lasers,
ultrasonic and friction stirs. Welders can be found in lots of places and in lots of companies,
these include the making of aero planes, assembling cars and other vehicles, constructing
building and bridges, working on oil rigs in the middle of the ocean and under the sea.
These are the classification of welding processes; they said that welding process may be
classified according to the source of energy used for heating the metals and the state of
metal at the place being welded.
Depending upon these factors welding processes are classified as, Chemical welding
(oxygen+combustible fuel), Chemico-mechanical (pressure gas welding), Electro-Chemical
(Atomic Hydrogen Welding), Electro-Mechanical (Electric resistant welding), and Electric-Arc
Welding.
