Salem Witch Trials:


1. Hysteria throughout MA in late 17th century
2. Accused tended to be wealthier, widowed, and middle-ages
3. Reflected religious and social tensions
4. Most of the accused were independent which challenged Puritan society

After the hysteria ended, prosecution for witchcraft declined

Puritan-Pequot War:
1. Pequots were allied with the Dutch, had conflicts with English settlers
1. 500 men, women, and children were massacred by Indians, New
