What is Wildlife?

Objectives
- WLD1010 (1. Develop a definition of wildlife.[1.1-1.2])
- WLD1010 (3. Investigate and describe different attitudes and
opinions regarding wildlife management.[3.1-3.3])
PART 1 (8 marks)
For Part 1 of this assignment you will to write two definitions of
the word wildlife. Each definition needs to be at least 3 sentences)
1. Definition #1 Write a definition of wildlife based on your
own personal experiences with the outdoors. What does the
word wildlife mean to you? (4 marks)
2. Definition #2 Research a few definitions of the word
wildlife from print and/or internet sources. Develop a
definition of wildlife based on the results of the research and

show that you have an understanding of the current


legislation in Alberta/Canada relating to wildlife. (4 marks)
PART 2 (32 marks)
For Part 2 of this assignment you will be research and
investigating wildlife management.
1. Research the following terms that all relate to the
management of wildlife. For each term, create a definition
and justify the use of each in the sustainable management of
wildlife on Earth. (Each definition needs to be at least three
sentences) (4 marks each = 16 marks)

2. Research manipulative wildlife management and custodial


wildlife management. Write a short paragraph that shows
your understanding of the two types of management. Be

3. What is a Hunting Season? Define and describe each of the
following terms; (2 marks each = 6 marks)
