Daily Grade (600 pts)

Daily Grade consists of daily student participation. As this is in part a studio class, active
participation is necessary to achieve learning goals. This includes student prepardeness, meaning
memorization of lines as needed, reading scripts before class, taking notes in script, etc...
Academic Grade (200 pts)
Academic Grade consists of student practice logs, quizzes, and written assignments. Students will
be required to write a critical analysis paper for the midterm (Quarter 1) and final (Quarter 2).
Developing an opinion, voice, and evaluative sense of Dramatic Works is an important element in
the study of Theatre. Students will reflect upon their own practice through the viewing of others
practice.
Quizzes: (100 pts)
Students will be quizzed and tested systematically throughout the year.
***Please check parentVUE often as I will post the assignments due for the coming week.

Journal Packets: (100 pts)

In conjunction with practical work in class, students will be expected to complete a Journal Packet that
details their thought process. Reflective and evaluative questions will be answered to establish a
formative assessment of a students process. Instead of using a textbook, students create a textbook
through their note taking, reflection, and recording practice for their reference. The notebook will be
graded. This is a great organizational tool and enables the student, parent, and teacher to have a
visual-working academic book.

Technical Grade (200 pts)

Technical Grade consists of student growth, progress, and performance. Performance rubrics will
be utilized to evaluate performance of student projects. Students will complete a Performance
Jury at the midterm (Quarter 1) and the final (Quarter 2) to evaluate their mastery of theatre
concepts.
Evening Performance
Students will be required to participate in 1 evening performance per semester. This semesters
performance will be held on __________.
REMIND
I use a system called Remind. I will send out reminders for upcoming test/quizzes, or It is available as a Free
App on Android and Apple, or by texting 81010 the code @DramaFCPMS

Homework Policy:
Homework is important as it reinforces concepts learned and promotes responsibility.
Weekly homework will include:
Studying vocabulary words (flash cards are suggested)
Practice Logs, Projects, and/or Scenes
Any work not completed in class

Late Work Policy:

One letter grade off for everyday late (10%).
***Example Due Monday, turned in Tuesday student received an 89% now it would be a 79%
because it is late.
After 5 days late student may only receive 50% of the available points for an assignment.
At this point the student may be assigned tutoring for a length of time TBD. If the student attends
tutoring the assignment will be accepted past the 5th day. If not the assignment is entered as a 0.
Absences:
If a student is absent, it is the students responsibility to ask for missed assignments on the day of return to
class. If a test is missed, the student will need to schedule a time to make up the test within two days of their
return.
Late Policy:
Students must be ready with all materials ready for class at the beginning of the period. If students are late
they will be written up with a behavior consequence (leveled consequences).
