CONJUNCTION

1. The conjunction
Conjunction is used to connect the words or phrases with the word or phrase to
another, or a sentence or clause with the phrase or clause others.
There are two conjunction:
1. Co-ordinate conjunction
Coordinate conjunction is conjunctions connect two words or in sentences which
parallel position; are:
For (karena), For is usually a preposition, but it can be used as a coordinating
conjunction too. It sounds very formal and stiff, so isn't used that much. The use
of for strongly indicates a certain order of events or thoughts, so be careful how
you use it. A more informal choice instead of using the word for would be
because or since.
And (dan),
Nor ( tidak juga), Nor is not used nearly as often as the other conjunctions, and is
usually used together with neither (Neither Bill nor Judd are interested in going
sailing this Sunday.)
But(tapi),
Or(atau),
Yet(tetapi), The word YET functions sometimes as an adverb and has several
meanings: in addition ("yet another cause of trouble" or "a simple yet noble
woman"), even ("yet more expensive"), still ("he is yet a novice"), eventually
("they may yet win"), and so soon as now ("he's not here yet"). It also functions as
a coordinating conjunction meaning something like "nevertheless" or "but." The
word yet seems to carry an element of distinctiveness that but can seldom register.
So(jadi). So is a little more confusing than the other conjunctions. Sometimes it
can connect two independent clauses along with a comma, but sometimes it can't.
When connecting two parallel sentence, the sentence would be a compound
sentences.
Example:
1. Dita and ani make the solution in the laboratory
2. Ningsih know if HCL dangerous but she touch it without gloves
3. We can use erlenmeyer or thermometer in the laboratory
4. He didnt reaction equalizes nor did him make reaction.
5. Biloks, yet in free unsure it not have biloks (biloks = 0)

6. HCL is essential strong so ph her < 7

7. They do not gamble or smoke, for they are ascetics.
2. Sub-ordinate conjunction
Subordinate conjunction is a conjunction that connects words with other words that
are not aligned, or one sentence with another sentence which is not parallel, including:

After
Althought
As
As far as
As soon as
Because
Before
Consequently
For
When
Whenever

Hence
However
If
In case
In order that
Like
Provided that
Since
So
Where
Wherever

So that
So that
Suchthat
Suppose
Than
That
Then
Thought
Unless
Whether
While

Formula for so.that:

S + TOBE + SO + ADJECTRIVE+ THAT S +VERB + O
Example : I was so scary that I couldnt mix the right solution.
Formula for such.that:
S + TOBE + SUCH AS + NOUN + THAT + S +VERB + O
Example : we have to wear masks and gloves kimia is such as dangeras.
When two sentences are connected with the subordinate conjunction, this sentence will
be a multi-storey complex sentences (complex sentences).
Example:
The use of subordinate conjunctions (coordinate conjunctions) in the sentence:
Conjunction subordinate is used to form the clause (sub-clauses) which including the
clause description (adverb clauses), such as an adverb clause of manner, adverb clause of
place, adverb clause of time, adverb clause of purpose, adverb clauses of cause and
effect , adverb clause of concession, adverb clause of condition, etc.

Example :
heisenberg theory this coperer since 1926
when I use thermometer, the first I must calybration the thermometer.
HCL is acid strong so

3. Cumulative Conjunction
A cumulative conjunction is used to add one thought to another. Examples of
cumulative conjunctions include:
And (dan)

Also (juga)

Both and (dan)

And also (dan juga)

As well as (dan juga)

Likewise (seperti itu juga)

Besides (disamping itu juga)

Furthermore (lebih-lebih lagi)

Moreover (lebih-lebih lagi)

Again (lagi pula)

In addition (tambahan lagi)

Similarly (demikian pula)

No less than (dan samasama tarafnya)

Not only ..but also (tidak/bukan hanya

tetapi juga)

Secondly ( yang kedua)

Now (sejak)
Example :

U.S. Bans Common Chemicals in Antibacterial Soaps

Although there is no conclusive evidence of danger to humans, antibacterials

benefits have not been proved to exceed potential risks
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration released its decision Friday on banning
19 active ingredients in antibacterial soaps. The ruling, 40 years in the making,
caps a decades-long debate over whether these germ-busting chemicals are safe
and offer any advantage over ordinary soap. The ban includes the most widely
used antiseptic in hand soaps, triclosanafter a large number of studies have
fallen short of manufacturers claims about its health benefits. Most studies have
focused on triclosan, and as far as human health is concerned the research into
its toxic effects has produced mixed results. For nearly every study that shows
triclosan has some particular effect, another shows it does not. Yet one thing is
clear: Several clinical studies, following several hundred households, have shown
that triclosan-based soap does not prevent illness any better than regular soap
and water alone. The FDA had several years to sift through stacks of studies and
weigh the risks and benefits of antibacterial hand soap, and based its decision
on whether to ban specific active ingredients on safety and efficacy grounds.
Sarah Reisman, an organic chemist at the California Institute of Technology,
echoes these sentiments. She contends that there are not enough benefits to justify
exposing masses of people to chemicals that may be harmful. There is no
definitive research on whether triclosan adversely affects human health, but
animal studies suggest that exposure to it and similar chemicals has the
potential to disrupt hormones in the body, trigger allergies and be associated

with some types of cancer. Whether those effects translate to humans is

unknown; as some experts explain, animals in experiments are exposed to much
higher doses than humans would ever experience. Still, because there is potential
for harm the FDA is responsible for seriously considering possible health
effects. These effects are of particular concern because so many people use
antibacterial soaps, and the chemicals they contain can be absorbed through
the skin. According to a 2004 study, 75 percent of Americans have triclosan
present in their urine. Even though triclosan and the other chemicals on the
FDAs list are now outlawed, products probably will not be free of antibacterials
anytime soon. DeLeo says companies have substituted triclosan with three other
chemicals that are unapproved by the FDA: benzalkonium chloride, chloroxylenol
and benzethonium chloride. These chemicals have been given an extension to
remain on the market for at least another year while companies gather evidence
supporting their safety and efficacy. Health officials worry these antibacterials
will have the same problems as triclosan.
