Energy/ Cost saving: Energy savings thus cost savings. Provides high efficiency in
different operation modes
Double conversion mode: Very high efficiency (>96%) even at low load conditions.
ECO mode: This mode provides very high efficiency in situations where the grid is good.
econversion mode: In this mode we have very high efficiency and at the same time
there is a certain amount of power conditioning.
Energy storage flexibility: Different back up options make it very flexible to choose
from
Classical (VRLA) and modular battery offer: Complete all included VRLA batteries in
cabinet offer as well as modular battery offer providing you with different back up option.
Short / long back up times: Can provide short and very long back up time depending on
customer requirements.
Different charging modes.
Easy
Easy to install: 2 separate cabinets (I/O and power cabinet), top and bottom entry in
standard, casters for easy positioning, installation against the wall makes Galaxy VM an
extremely installer friendly and convenient system.
Easy to start up: 5X8 services included in standard.
Easy to manage & monitor: Large touch screen color display, NMC in standard (Ethernet,
Modbus, and Jbus) provides very easy and intuitive information instantaneously at all times.
Key Technology
1. High impact on OPEX thanks to the high efficiency in double conversion mode

The efficiency of Galaxy VM is higher than Delphys Green Power at every load, the
difference begin more obvious at higher level loads. The Galaxy VM efficiency curve is
nearly flat down to 25% load, saving power and cooling costs and significantly reducing
the overall total cost of ownership.
Electricity savings
Rule of thumb:
+1% efficiency improvement @ 100kW = -800 savings per year
(1)
In the tables, different energy saving cases are presented after 1 year, 5 years and
10 years. Saving energy is of great importance, because every percentage of efficiency
directly affects total cost of ownership (TCO) of the UPS system over time.
Table: UPS in double conversion mode
Formula:
Annual energy saving = Pu x (1/
- 1/ s) x H x C
Pu = kW at UPS output
c = Delphys Green Power efficiency
s = Galaxy VM efficiency
H = number of hours in 1 year (8760 hours)
C = kWh price = 0.08

Schneider offers significant energy savings over the lifetime of the product.
econversion mode also has an impact on the all electrical equipments (cable,
transformer, genset, switchgear, circuit-breaker) installed upstream of the UPS.
During this mode, the UPS inverter compensates the main disturbances such as the load
THDi and the load PF.

11. ON/OFF buttons to start and stop the UPS without display instructions
No ON/OFF buttons (the function is controlled by using the keypad on display) could
result in loss of load a number of loss of load incidences occur as a result of human
error and lack of training. The lack of a physical ON/OFF (Socomec provides virtual
buttons on a front mounted screen) this could contribute to a critical loss under certain
conditions.
8
Potential failure scenario: If the UPS unit is in RUN mode and the display ceases to
operate (vibration, electrostatic discharge), how can you transfer the UPS to bypass for
maintenance?
Firstly, the UPS will be stopped by the
opening of the output switch, secondly
the opening of the rectifier switch in
the second time

Conclusion
See below a summary of Galaxy VMs strengths:
High impact on OPEX thanks to the:
High efficiency in double conversion mode with a very flat curve from 20% to
100% load
econversion mode with 98.5% efficiency, low input THDI and Class 1.
Optimized footprint with accessories
More space to put something else.
Fully compatible with generator set with a large input voltage and frequency windows.
Thanks to the swappable components of the Galaxy VM (batteries and fans), the
maintenance is simplified and the MTTR is minimized.
The advanced battery management detects failing battery units before they can
become a problem versus no battery monitoring for Socomec.
Life Cycle Monitoring provides maintenance advice to guarantee installation
availability.
Robust UPS for industry markets thanks to a good overload capability such as 125%
for 10 min at 40C.
Galaxy VM is conformed in term of safety and integrates full backfeed solution without
additional cost.
Graphic touch screen as standard offer.
Schneider employs redundant displays: LCD and mimic diagram.
ON/OFF buttons to control the UPS without display instructions.
