Project Title

EDTech Certificate Project

Project Manager
Brouke Reynolds

Description
The IDT Certificate in Educational Technology is designed for educators who want to
integrate technology with learning in PK-12 schools and institutions of higher learning.
This completely online program is comprised of four courses designed to help educators
meaningfully integrate technology with learning, IDT 7061, 7062, 7063, and 7064, each
of the classes are three credit hours.

Project Need
The IDT faculty would like to update the four courses with a badge system similar to the
IPT EdTech program. The IDT faculty would like the four courses analyzed and aligned
with a badge system so participants may earn different levels of badges based on the
extent of the work they complete. The result will be four redesigned courses using the
badge system with the potential new delivery method of Google Classroom.

Project Description
This project will provide the IDT faculty with four redesigned courses that implement a
badge system using levels based on the progress the participants make in each lesson.
The lessons will be newly created or a modification of existing lessons using newer
instructional models and technologies. The badges created will be original work of the
design team. The courses will be an updated version of what is currently in place.

Goal and Critical Success Factors

Update and further develop and deliver the modules and resources for IDT 7061, 7062,
7063, & 7064 for the University of Memphis IDT EdTech Certificate program by
integrating newer instructional models, badges, and edTPA components.

Critical Success Factors

This project will be deemed successful when:
Newer instructional modules are effectively integrated into the four courses
instructional components.
Badges for completing specific tasks with various software are implemented into
the four courses.
Course tasks and expectations are aligned with edTPA requirements and rubrics.
Course modules will be aligned with ISTE standards.

Assumptions, Constraints, and Risks

(such as browser plug-ins for Flash, free evaluation copies of software. etc.)
Ability to troubleshoot basic computer problems (especially those common with
Internet connections).

Constraints
The graphics in this project will be developed using the Adobe Creative Cloud.
This project will utilize an open source badge issuing platform to upload original
badge designs and issue badges.
This project will be developed within Desire2Learn/Google Classroom LMS.
This project will supplement and modify existing course documents, learning
objectives, and resources.

Risks and Obstacles

Obstacles
Five team members collaborating remotely from each other on the project while
coordinating personal schedules.
