KI00056C 2003-05

Function and area of use

The operator terminal can be used as a web server. Using a terminal applet, the operator
terminal can be reflected in the web browser Microsoft Internet Explorer. Version 1.00
of the terminal applet can also be reflected in Netscape Navigator. The terminal reflection has the same function as the real operator terminal and is used in the same way.
The operator terminal has to have an expansion slot to support the function.

About the Start-Up document

This Start-Up document should not be considered as a complete manual. It is an aid

to be able to start up a normal application quickly and easily. For further information
we refer to the manual of the operator terminal. This document and other Start-Up
documents can be downladed from www.beijerelectronics.com. Please use the address
manuals@beijerelectronics.com for feedback on our Start-Up documents.

Technical description

The terminal applet creates a reflection of the operator terminal. The operator terminal
with its project is then shown in the web browser.
Object status can then be altered, recipes written and so on by using the computers
mouse and keyboard. All the functions supported in the operator terminal are also supported in the terminal applet.
Two files are required for the operator terminal reflection to work:
***appl.cab
***.htm
The files are specific for each type of operator terminal and can be obtained from your
closest distributor of operator terminals.
Note:
The ***appl.cab file shall not be decompressed manually; this is done in the browser.

For the terminal applet to work the latest version of Microsoft Virtual Machine
(ver. 5.0 or later) must be used. The file can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com.

Technical description

BDTP is a protocol that uses client/server communication and works in the following
way:
A client asks for information and a server supplies it.
Each server can supply 20 clients with information.
Each client can receive information from 16 different servers.
Each operator terminal can be both a server and a client at the same time.
The operator terminal has to have an Ethernet expansion card installed. There are two
kinds of expansion cards: IFC ETTP for twisted pair cable and IFC ETCX for coaxial
cable.

Function and area of use

FTP (File Transport Protocol) is a standard protocol. When the operator terminal
works as an FTP server, files can be loaded to and downloaded from the terminal. This
document describes how to configure the operator terminal to work as an FTP server
via the Ethernet. An FTP client is required to upload or download files. The FTP
Client in the additional software tools (ver 2.00 and higher), WS_FTP Pro, Windows
Commander or any other standard FTP program can be used as FTP client. The
operator terminal has to have an expansion slot to support the function.

About this Start-Up document

This Start-Up document should not be considered as a complete manual. It is an aid

to be able to start up a normal application quickly and easily. For further information
we refer to the manual for the operator terminals. This document and other Start-Up
documents can be downloaded from www.beijerelectronics.com.
Please use the address manuals@beijerelectronics.com for feedback on our Start-Up
documents.

Technical description

The FTP server in the operator terminal only allows transfers in the passive state
(PASV).
The operator terminal does not use dated files. The date shown in the FTP client
should therefore be ignored. National characters are not supported in the file names.
Files in the various libraries in the operator terminal allocate memory from the project
memory. Information on available project memory can be found in the info.txt file.
An Ethernet expansion card has to be installed in the operator terminal. There are two
different expansion cards:
IFC-ETTP, for connection to Ethernet with twisted-pair cable
IFC-ETCX, for connection to Ethernet with coaxial cable

network for communication via TCP/IP. The connection is made by twisted pair (TP)
or coaxial (CX) cable.

5.1

Installation of one expansion card

Perform the following steps to mount an Ethernet expansion card:

Switch the terminal power off.
Make sure that the ESD protection is good.
Remove the cover plate on the rear of the terminal, and the two expansion plates
on the short side. In terminals equipped with two expansion slots, the slots are
called Slot 1 and Slot 2. In terminals with only one expansion slot, it is called
Slot 1.

is mounted in Slot 1, and the spacers if the card is mounted in Slot 2.
Check that the expansion cable is correctly mounted.
Mount the cover plates.

5.2

Installation of two expansion cards

Two expansion cards can be mounted in some terminals. They are mounted in parallel
to the connector on the CPU card in the terminal. Two expansion cards can be
connected via one expansion cable since there is a parallel contact on the cable. The
connector in the middle is used for the expansion card placed in Slot 1, and the end
connector is used for the expansion card placed in Slot 2. If only one card is used either
connector can be used.
The connector X1 on the expansion card in Slot 2 is connected to the connector X1
and the CPU card in the terminal via the X1 connector on the expansion card in
Slot 1. If the X2 connector on the CPU card in the terminal is used by any or both
cards, this connector is connected to the X2 connector on the expansion card.
When two expansion cards are mounted in the same terminal you mount the card in
Slot 1 with the distances and the card in Slot 2 with the screws in the distances.

A Westermo TD31/32-modem
This modem is suitable for industrial use, and ready to mount on a DIN-rail. A
cable for connection to the telephone network is supplied with the Westermomodem. A cable for connection to the controller is not supplied, and has to be constructed.
An operator terminal
Any operator terminal can be used (exclusive of terminals with only one serial port).
To put the operator terminal in transfer mode automatically (automatic RUN/
PROG switching) a recent version of the system program for the operator terminal
and of the programming tool must be used. With previous versions of the system
program and programming tool, the operator terminal has to be put in transfer
mode manually before the transfer can be made.

Connection

The operator terminal is connected to the PC via the PowerBit- and Westermomodems. The PowerBit-modem is connected to the COM1/COM2 port on the PC
via a modem cable, according to the drawing below. The cable is supplied at purchase

Technical description

Unicode is a worldwide character-encoding standard that use 16-bit code value to

represent characters in many of the worlds languages. Previous character-encoding
standards such as the Microsoft Windows ANSI character set use 8-bit code values or
combinations of 8-bit values to represent the characters used in a specific language or
geographical region.
In Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP an input method editor (IME) allows
computer users to enter complex characters and symbols, such as Japanese characters,
by using a standard keyboard.

Function and area of use

Unicode can be used in the operator terminals to create applications in most of the
languages in the world. See the manual for the operator terminals and the programming
tool for the operator terminals for information about which terminal models and
system program (firmware) support Unicode. Unicode characters can be used for the
project application and/or for the system language.

About this Start-Up document

This document describes how to install Unicode fonts in your PC and how to create a
simple project in the programming tool for the operator terminals.
This Start-Up document should not be considered as a complete manual. It is an aid
to be able to start up a normal application quickly and easily. For further information
we refer to the manual for the operator terminals and the programming tool for the operator terminals.

Technical description

Unicode is a worldwide character-encoding standard that use 16-bit code value to represent characters in many of the worlds languages. Previous character-encoding standards such as the Microsoft Windows ANSI character set use 8-bit code values or
combinations of 8-bit values to represent the characters used in a specific language or
geographical region.
In Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP an input method editor (IME) allows
computer users to enter complex characters and symbols, such as Japanese characters,
by using a standard keyboard.

MW, EW or AW *

Analog value (32)

* Analog values can consist of bytes that represent memory cells, inputs or outputs.

All data types consist of byte areas. Addressing is always byte-specific, regardless of
wether it is 1, 16, or 32 bits. The addresses are always decimal, 0- 65535.
The project memory determines the maximum length of the data block (DB) in
SIMATIC S7. The operator terminal can access all data blocks in the controller.
Note!
Trying to access an undefined data block in the controller causes the controller to stop.

Addressing of digital signals

For digital signals, the current bit in the byte is stated.

Writing bits from the operator terminal to the controller is made in three steps:
1 The entire byte is read from the controller to the terminal.
2 The current bit is set or reset in the terminal.
3 The entire byte from the terminal is written to the controller.

MallKI_BE_eng_0304

Note:
During the time it takes for the terminal to make the three steps above, the controller
may not change the other bits in the current byte since they will be overwritten.

Starting the PROFIBUS DP communication

Check that the HMI profile has been downloaded to the controller and that the connection between the operator terminal and the controller is made properly according
to section 4.
Put the controller in RUN mode.
Put the operator terminal in RUN mode.
If everything is working the HMI profile starts to handle the communication between
the operator terminal and the Siemens SIMATIC S7.

Description of the HMI profile

The following section gives a short description of the HMI profile, HMI_kons.

8.1

HMI profile with consistent data

The HMI profile with consistent data is used for Siemens SIMATIC S7-300/400,
which support the data blocks SFC14 and SFC15. For further information about
which controllers support the data blocks, see Siemens documentation.
The conception kons in the profile HMI_kons stands for consistent data, which
means that the whole message is read and written during one program cycle.
HMI_kons uses the data types MW200-MW255 and T99.
The different program parts in the HMI profile (HMI_kons) are described below.
Function block

Description

OB1

Main program. Calls the function block 110 with DB110.

FB110

This block is called by OB1 and handles the HMI profile.

DB51

Data block used in the mode Single DB access for analog signals.

DB110

Data block used by FB110.

SFC14

Data block DPRD_DAT, system block for reading/writing consistent data.

SFC15

Data block DPWR_DAT, system block for reading/writing consistent data.

MallKI_BE_eng_0304

FB110 contains the variable DB_Address. If another data block than DB51 is to be used
in the mode Single DB access, this must be defined in the parameter DB_Address. If the
mode Multi DB access is used, the value W#16#FFFF must be specified in the variable.

Technical description of an e-mail server

1. In general, a server is a computer program that provides services to other computer

programs in the same or other computers.
2. The computer that a server program runs in is also frequently referred to as a server
(although it may contain a number of server and client programs).
3. In the client/server programming model, a server is a program that awaits and fulfils
requests from client programs in the same or other computers. A given application
in a computer may function as a client with requests for services from other programs and a server of requests from other programs.
Specific to the e-mail handling, an e-mail server is the computer program (housed in a
computer) that serves and provides incoming or outgoing mail. An e-mail client is the
sending/receiving program associated with the user.

Mapping DF1-addresses (PLC/SLC) in
ControlLogix
1

KI00245 2004-05

Function and area of use

The Allen-Bradley DF1 protocol is available for all the operator terminals in the
CIMREX-series. When connecting the operator terminal to the Allen-Bradley
ControlLogix controllers using the protocol DF1 via serial cable, a mapping must be
made in the Allen-Bradley Logix system.

The Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controllers use a tag-based addressing which is not

supported in the DF1 protocol. To be able to communicate using the protocol AllenBradley DF1 via serial cable the Allen-Bradley DF1 addresses must be mapped to the
controller tags in the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix system.

Set the System Protocol to DF1 Point to Point and the Error Detection to CRC
under the System Protocol tab. Leave the other fields with the default settings.

3.2

Mapping PLC/SLC addresses to controller tags

Map the controller tags to DF1 addresses by selecting Map PLC/SLC Messages from
the Logic menu.
For each file that is referenced to a PLC-5 or SLC command a map entry must be made.
Type the file number of the logical
address in the File Number field,
e.g. 7 for Integer N7.
Type or select the global tag that
supplies or receives data for the
file number, in the Tag Name field.
Multiple files can be mapped to the
same tag.

For PLC 2 Commands, specify the

tag that supplies or receives the data, in the PLC 2 Mapping Tag name
field.

MallKI_BE_eng_0304

It is recommended to use an array as the address cross-reference to make an easy transfer

between the SLC addresses and the global controller tags. The file number 0-8 must be
equivalent to the fixed file type in the DF1 protocol (see the help file for more information).

www.beijerelectronics.com

Page 3 (4)

Mapping DF1-addresses (PLC/SLC) in

ControlLogix

KI00245 2004-05

Example
Use a 16-bit signed one-dimensional array for the tag name and reference it to file 7.
Since the array type is 16-bit signed the equivalent file type is N.
If you have an array name of Integer_Array(256), the map would look like this:
File Number = 7

Integer_Array

N7:0 = Integer_Array(0)
N7:1 = Integer_Array(1)
.
N7:254 = Integer_Array(254)
N7:255 = Integer_Array(255)
Example
Using an array of REAL devices instead would give following map:
File Number = 8

ex. Float_Array

F8:0 = Float_Array(0)
F8:1 = Float_Array(1)
.
F8:255 = Float_Array(255)

MallKI_BE_eng_0304

When all the desired mapping is finished, the controller project is transferred to the
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix system.

Key sequences in CIMREX operator terminals

Downgrading of system program in the CIMREX series operator

terminals

Downgrading of a CIMREX terminal with new hardware

The terminal contains a system program (operative system) that is stored in the terminals
memory before delivery. The system program can be changed, for example, when upgrading to
later versions or downgrading to older versions. Downgrading may be necessary so that the
terminal can be programmed with older versions of programming software.
Transferring the system program to the terminal requires:
A PC
Transfer cable between the PC and the terminal: CAB5.
The PC program System Loader (found as an icon in the CIMREX Tools program group). To install
the program group see the manual for CIMREX Tools. CIMREX Tools can be downloaded free of
charge from the website www.beijerelectronics.com or from the installation CD.
File with the required system program (*.BIN file e.g. C70v402.bin)
The transfer is carried out as follows:
1. Connect the cable between the PC and the terminal.
2. The PC program is started by selecting Program\CIMREX Tools\System Loader in the Start Menu.
No settings need to be made to the terminal.
3. Under Options/Comm Settings you can set the communication port and the transfer speed.
NB!

When downgrading a terminal it is important to ensure that "Overwrite PLC driver" is selected.

Docmal_eng, 001110

If downloading of a new system program (*.bin file) fails when you click Send in the CIMREX
Tools System Loader, the terminal automatically attempts to set itself in sysload mode. If this
fails, the terminal can also be set manually, please see Key sequences in CIMREX terminals
(PI00073). When the terminal is in sysload mode, it is ready to make a new try at downloading
the system program.

To achieve quick and efficient communication between the terminal and the PLC system, the

Only signals to objects in the current block are read continuously. Signals to objects in the other
blocks are not read, so the number of blocks will not therefore affect the communication time.
Except for the signals to objects in the current block, the terminal continuously reads the
following signals from the PLC unit:

The signals from the PLC system are most quickly read if all signals in the list above are
consecutive. If for example 100 signals are defined, these are most quickly read if they are linked
to, for example, M0.0-M11.7. If the signals are spread out (e.g. I0.4, Q30.0, T45.3 etc.) the
updating will be slower.
(IILFLHQWEORFNFKDQJHV
Block changes are carried out most efficiently with the block jump function on the function keys,
or with a jump object. "Display signals" in the block header should only be used when the PLC
system is to force the presentation of another block. The New Display register can also be used if
the PLC system is to change the block. This will not affect communication as much as a larger

If the terminal clock is used, the communication is impeded as the clock register of the PLC
must be read up to the terminal. Downloading the clock to the PLC system also creates an extra
load. The interval between downloads should therefore be as long as possible.

Docmal_eng, 001110

3DFNDJLQJRIVLJQDOV
When the signals are to be transferred between the terminal and the PLC system, all signals are
not transferred simultaneously. Instead they are divided into packages with a number of signals
in each package. To decrease the number of packages to be transferred and speed up the
communication, this has to be taken into consideration. The number of signals in each package
depends on the driver used.
To make the communication as rapid as possible, the number of packages has to be minimized.
Consecutive signals require a minimum of packages, but it may not always be necessary. In such
cases there will be a so-called waste between two signals. The waste is the maximum distance
between two signals where they still can be kept within the same package. The waste depends on
the driver used.
