Introduction
About This Documentation
This document is an Instruction Manual for GPRSoft 3D module.
The GPRSoft 3D module is used along with the GPRSoftPRO software used to build 3D cubes from your
data.
Hardware Requirements
GPRSoftStd and GPRSoftPRO will run with a minimum set of hardware requirements:
OS Windows 32-bit XP (SP3) or later
CPU 1.6GHZ or faster
1GByte of RAM or more
USB2.0 Port (if connecting the hardware dongle)
Upgrades and Support
GPRSoft 3D module is undergoing constant improvement and refinement. Future upgrades will include an
improved interface, together with new processing functions and presentation facilities. Please keep your
copy of the software up to date by downloading and installing the latest releases.
At Geoscanners AB we are always glad to receive customer feedback. All suggestions about new functions
or improvements of existing ones are considered and implemented as soon as we possibly can. For
feedback and suggestions you can contact us by e-mail support@geoscanners.com with the subject
containing "feedback" .
Upgrades and support is free of charge during the first twelve months following the purchase of the
software. Beyond this initial period an annual fee will be charged in order for the end customer to have
access to the new upgrades and features. However, if you decide not to purchase the service agreement
you will be able to continue using the software with the last downloaded version indefinitely.
Technical Support
Full technical support, via telephone, fax or email, is provided free of charge. If you have a problem then
please consult this manual first, if you don't find the answer to your question then please try the
Dokupedia and/or the GPR forum where most questions have already been answered. In the event that
you cannot find the answer then please contact Geoscanners AB for a solution.
When you call, fax or email please be prepared to supply the following information:
Your name, organization and GPRSoft license number (appears in the about window in your software)
The type of hardware you are using (processor speed, graphics card and available RAM)
Operating system and Microsoft .NET framework version
Details of the problem you are experiencing - please be as specific as possible.
The exact error number and location reported if one occurred
How you have tried to solve the problem

Overview
A 3D file viewed in the GPRSoft3D viewer module is created inside GPRSoftPRO.
Your version of GPRSoftPRO has to be the expanded 3D version for you to be able to create the 3D file.
If you have the proper version of the GPRSoftPRO your Menu bar will have an additional menu entry
called the Create 3D.

Inside the menu you will find two options

1.Create 3DProject - starts the create the GPR3D file dialogue

2.Open 3D Module - starts the 3D module if available

Create 3D

Create 3D dialogue window will allow you to select the files and grid options for your 3D output file.

Profile list
List of profiles to be included in the 3D file.
The profiles are going to be tiled one to another based on the name increment.
Keep in mind that the 3D cube is always built with a notion of origin in the bottom left corner (XY plane)
so adjust the name increment of your profiles accordingly.
Add/Remove
Use this buttons to add and remove profiles from the 3D file.

Profile boundaries

You can select to build a 3D representation starting and ending at desired trace number. In this way you
can create 3D views of a segment from your data.

Profile increment

A value for the distance (spacing) between consecutive profiles.

Flip files
If you have collected your profiles in a zig-zag manner by checking this box you instruct the build engine
to reverse the direction of all even files before interpolating the data.

Action buttons

Press Create to start the creation of the 3D file. Before building the output files you will be asked to give
the name to your GPR3D project - this will be the name of the subfolder in your default output directory
where all 3D files will be stored and the name of your GPR3D file that can be opened in the 3D module.

GPRSoft 3D module is an external viewer for the *.gpr3D files created in GPRSoftPRO.
The interface of the module is simple and allows you to:
1. Open and create exports of your 3D files
2. Navigate through the represented data in 3 dimensions
3. Select the screen view for easier interpretation.

Navigate

Navigation toolbar consists of 3 paired buttons allowing you to navigate through your data along the X, Y
and Z axis.
Z axis

Depth axis controls. Click on the blue up and down buttons or PgUp and PgDown on your keyboard to raise
or lower a plane section through your 3D data cube. Also selects the depth for the orthogonal Top down
view.

X axis
Survey direction axis controls. Click on the green up and down buttons or Left arrow and Right arrow on
your keyboard to move front and back a plane section through your 3D data cube. Also selects the position
for the orthogonal Front view.

Y axis

Survey increment axis controls. Click on the red up and down buttons or Up arrow and Down arrow on your
keyboard to move left and right a plane section through your 3D data cube. Also selects the position for
the orthogonal side view which is an equivalent to the B-scan of data.
