Safety Considerations: The grass has the potential to


be slippery and students could slip and fall. Students
could have skin irritation from the grass if they fall.
Students could run into each other during instant
activity if they dont have proper spacing. Students
could possibly injure themselves during various
health-related fitness movements likes squats or
push-ups if proper form is not used.
Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will receive one

warning and if bad behavior persists they will

Describe the pre-class arrangement


Teacher: Standing in front of the students in the grass area of Cleveland.
Students: Each student will be sitting on a poly spot in the grass area. There will be 20 poly spots in rows
of 5.
Equipment: 20 Poly spots in rows of 5 laid out for students to sit on. There will also be a large square area
marked by cones for the activities to be used in the lesson.

Instant Activity: Hey everyone! Lets get


started with a game called Doctor Tag! In this
game we have two taggers and two doctors.
Whoever gets tagged has to freeze and waits
for the doctor to heal them. Once the doctor
tags you, you are free to keep playing. Well
start when I say go!

Transition: When I say go, students will walk


to the water fountain for a quick water break
and walk back and sit on their poly spot.
Set Induction: Hey class! How are we doing
today? Awesome! Today we are going to be
continuing our week with fitness! Who can
tell me why fitness is important? Correct!
Fitness is important because it keeps us
healthy and helps us do every day things.
Purpose: This lesson is important because it
teaches us how to be healthy and improve our
everyday lives by learning basic fitness
concepts.

Lesson Core - Task 1: Students will be led by
the teacher in a variety of different locomotor
skills. They will complete each skill starting
from between the cones to the other end of the
cones. The teacher will actively participate
with the kids to encourage participation.
Students will start with walking, then jogging,
skipping, jumping, hopping, army crawl, crab
walks, and side shuffles. The first round will
be focused on doing the movements correctly,
the second will have an emphasis on the speed
with which the students can complete it.

during army crawl and crab walk?
Answer: Yes!

the next exercise.
Transition: When I say go, students will walk

Lesson Core - Task 2: For the last activity we
will be doing the UNO game. The teacher will
have a deck of UNO cards. Each color will
have a designated exercise
(Red=Pushups/Blue=Squats/Yellow=Crunche
s/ Green=Standing Jumps). If a teacher draws
a SKIP card students will skip around the
cones, if a teacher draws a reverse card the
students will jog around the cones. If it is a
wild card the teacher gets to choose the
exercise and amount. Any other card will be
based on the color and the number represents
the repetitions. Students will play this game
on their poly spots.
