We the people first from the United Kingdom and now of Houston, Texas

establish this constitution for the betterment of our people and, consequentially, our
settlement. Our government is a socialist, parliamentary monarchy.

Article 1 Our government will have an executive, legislative, and judicial branch.
Our executive will be King Jeremiah, and he shall serve for live. He shall be
responsible for partnering with the city of Houston, in addition to the responsibilities
outlined in this constitution. Our legislative branch will be a parliament of elected
representatives, who we elect in a ranked voting system. Each citizen ranks all
candidates in order of preference, and only their top 1 choice counts initially. Then,
the top candidate gets accepted and his votes go to the other candidates
depending on each votes ranking. This legislature would be unicameral, since we
are not representing a large area, and we have a superior voting system to First Past
the Post. Finally, we will have a judicial branch made of judges and courts. King
Jeremiah will nominate our judges, while they will be approved by the parliament.

Article 2 Elections for the legislative and judicial branches are held every 4 years,
while King Jeremiah serves for life.

Article 3 Criminals judged guilty will be sent to prisons in Houston to go through

the United States court.

Article 4 The court will have a jury that decides whether a criminal is published,
and if the case cannot be decided by a jury, then another judge will decide.

Article 5 In order to protect liberty, which entails opportunity, agency, and

economic freedom, our settlement shall have a universal basic income of 100
dollars and free transport to Houston and its schools. We will also have more basic
human rights, such as free speech and freedom of religion.

Article 6 In order to protect liberty, we must redistribute wealth somewhat. This is

in contrast with the United States constitution. Our taxes will be income-bracket
based.

Article 7 We will enforce laws through a compulsory civilian militia, and we will
work with Houstons police force once we have found someone guilty.

Article 8 Our compulsory civilian militia will select people at random, to prevent
any abuses of power. Working at the militia will pay the same as whatever job the
civilian had before.

Paragraphs

Compared to the American constitution, ours places more power on the executive
branch and doesnt really specify what happens when/if our refugee camp goes to
war. War is unlikely for our settlement. It also stresses equality of opportunity a lot
more, by alleviating poverty through a Universal Basic Income system. Finally, it
gives our executive more minute duties because he isnt governing over a large
territory that goes to war. Our constitution agrees with the ideas of republicanism
(our citizens elect representatives), checks and balances (see how we select our
judges), and separation of powers (our king isnt allowed to pass laws, for example).
