Dear Parish Family,
Today is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ
(formerly known as Corpus Christi). The Church gives us this
one special celebration to help us to pause and to reflect on the
great gift of the Eucharist. Even though the Eucharist is, and
should be, an important part of our lives (hopefully the heart of
every week) , the Church, in her wisdom, invites us to look
deeper into this great gift. Jesus gives us Himself to help and
nourish us on our journey of faith.
When we receive Our Lord in the Eucharist, let us be free of
distractions that may take our focus away from the great gift that
is before us. Let that time of receiving Our Lord be the heart not
only of our day but also of our very being.
As we celebrate this Solemnity, please allow me to take this
opportunity to go over the “ritual” when receiving Holy

hectic and stressful, but this time with the Lord should help to
focus us and aid us during the most difficult moments of our lives.
Today at the 12 noon Mass, we are having a Eucharistic
Procession around the property. The procession will conclude
with Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament here in church. I
thank Fr. Kevin, Steven Taylor, the choir, and all who were
responsible for helping to bring this tradition back to our parish.
At the 10 am Mass today, the 2010 class of St. Peter’s
Academy will gather for the annual Baccalaureate Mass. I
congratulate them on this important milestone in their journey of
life. What a wonderful day to celebrate! I invite our graduates to
stay close to the Lord in the Eucharist! Wherever the years lead
you, stay close to Christ and His Church. I congratulate the
parents of our graduates, and I thank them for entrusting the
education of their children to the faculty and staff of St. Peter’s
Academy.
I thank and congratulate Sr. Barbara Takacs, M.P.F., for her
leadership in our school, especially as she celebrates her 25th
anniversary as Principal! Ad Multos Annos, Sister Barbara!

60TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS
Mark This Year's Calendar - November 7, 2010
Our 60th Anniversary Gala will begin with Mass at 3 pm
celebrated by Bishop John Flesey, D.D.. Mass will be followed by
a reception from 5 - 9 pm at the Hasbrouck Heights Hilton. Good
food, fun, fellowship, and great dancing with a fabulous live
band. (Watch future bulletins for ticket information.)
The Gala Committee is looking for prizes. If you would like to
donate something such as Hotel or condo stays, vacations or
trips, spa treatments, sporting event tickets, theater or concert
tickets, jewelry (we have a man's watch), restaurant certificates,

The Gala Committee for our upcoming 60th Anniversary is

 MEMORIALS - Parishioners are now invited to memorialize a
candle burning in front of the Blessed Mother and the candle over
the Tabernacle in memory of a loved one. These are in addition to
the present Memorials of the altar bread, altar wine and the altar

the Memorials will be for one week each.

RESPECT LIFE UPDATES
The Respect Life Committee would like to thank all of the
parishioners who are participating in our Spiritual Adopt a Baby
program. It is an on-going 9 month program. Please feel free to
pick up an extra prayer card in the church and join your prayers
to ours. We will update you each month as to the development of
your baby. There are prayer cards for our Spiritual Adoption
Program in the basket in the back of the church. Please feel free
to take one and pray for a baby to be spared from abortion. In
October 2010, we will have a baby shower to celebrate the births
of our adopted babies. We look forward to another successful
program this year as we strive to end abortions and return our
country to a culture of life.

upcoming vacancy on the US Supreme Court. Ms. Kagen has
NO experience as a judge! Based on her public writings and
speeches, she is an aggressive advocate of abortion rights and a

PAVING THE WAY -The next phase of our fundraising
effort to pay for the new parking lot is underway. You
should have received in the mail the book of tickets for our
super raffle. The drawings will take place on August 15th,
at around 2 PM, in our auditorium. This will be after our
Rosary procession. The first prize is 25% of the total
amount brought in; second prize is 15% of total; and third
prize will be 10% of total. Be sure to make your returns
right away to get into the drawings. If you prefer not to enter
our drawings by buying tickets, donations to the parking lot
fund will be gladly accepted and deeply appreciated. To
date the prize money is up to $2,772.50 - 664 tickets sold.

YEAR FOR PRIESTS
In observance of the 150th anniversary of the death of
Saint John Vianney, the Curé of Ars (August 4, 1859),
Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed a ‘Year for Priests’
beginning June 19, 2009 and ending June 11, 2010.
The dates coincide with the Solemnity of the Most
Sacred Heart of Jesus which, since the pontificate of
Pope John Paul II, has been observed as a world day
for the sanctification of priests. During the course of the
year, the Holy Father intends to proclaim the Curé of
Ars, until now patron of diocesan priests, patron of all
the priests of the world. Please keep your parish priest
and all priests of the world in your prayers during this
special year.

How You Can Help Increase Priestly Vocations
 Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.
 Offer your time and financial support to strengthen youth
ministries in your parish.
 Teach your children and grandchildren how to listen to the
promptings of the Holy Spirit.
 Ask your children and grandchildren if they ever thought
about becoming a priest.
If you know someone who has the qualities of a good priest,

point it out to him.
 Pray for the young men discerning the priesthood.
 Find ways to support and encourage seminarians in your

How do I schedule a Baptism? - Baptisms are scheduled once a month during the year (except during Lent). Arrangements must
be made in advance by calling the rectory during business hours. Parents must be registered members of the parish
(on our parish mailing list). Parents are required to attend an instruction session the week before.
Sacrament of Marriage - Please make arrangements at least one year in advance.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick - Anyone sick or housebound, or who is going to the hospital for tests or surgery,
please call a priest at the Rectory.
R.C.I.A.- (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) - is the process the Catholic Community provides to welcome adults who wish to
become Catholic and to prepare adult Catholics to receive Confirmation (and, when needed, First Eucharist).
Please contact Fr. Kevin for more information. Meets Tuesday evening 7:00 PM in the Rectory Basement.
Religious Education - Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 8:30 - 9:50 AM for grades 1-8. Office hours for the Religious
Education Center are Monday through Thursday, 9:30-11:30 AM and 1:00-3:00 PM.
What about my ‘Teenager’? - Our parish has a very active “Youth Ministry” program for the youth of our parish.
Our Youth Group takes part in Retreats held in the Archdiocese and also participates in various functions that are held within our

Legion of Mary - Meets every Tuesday morning in the lower level of the Rectory at 9:30 AM.
Alive In the Spirit - A charismatic prayer group meets every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the lower level of the Rectory.
Choir - Adult Choir meets Thursdays in the church from 7 - 8 PM.
