IN CHARGE
Upon entering this internship period, many things that were not known before, has
been clarified now. One of the most prominent characteristics of construction industry is that
they work 6 days a week (8am to 5pm) starting from Monday.

Inspection form preparation Site walk and site observation
10:00 a.m.
Tea time
7:50 a.m.
- Toolbox meeting is where all workers are gathered at the carpark area for daily
motivation rehearsal or what not
8:10 a.m.
- Everyone from CP3 will have short morning discussions on the progress
happened the day before and is expected to report on what progress will take
place today. Disputes are settled there and then to minimize dissatisfaction arising
between workers.
8:45 a.m.
- The purpose of this initial site walk every day is to take rough attendance of
workers and put it into daily site diary report. Also, another purpose is to look for
any problems or defects that surfaced recently and to also observe what needs to
be inspected during the afternoon site walk.
10:15 a.m.
- Inspection form is prepared for afternoon inspection. Information for inspection
form can either be printed out or be photostated from A1 drawings provided by
the Architect.
Inspection form
1:00 p.m.
- Carrying out of inspection according to their nature
3:15 p.m.
- DOR form will be photostated and be brought to site to investigate on cases
needed to be closed. Site workers will lend their hand when being called upon
and when the place is cleared, picture will be taken and sent to the Safety
representatives and the case is considered close.
Meeting:
-
Weekly/Monthly meeting
o Teamwork is essential ingredient for project success.
o Team is not working effectively.
Engineer A did not reply to consultants inquiry until complaint
has reached supervisor
Individual B did not have clear communication with supervisor
Individual C did not show eye contact when supervisor asked
question and kept head down. This indicates either feeling bad
from incompletion of given task or shyness.
Kaizen meeting:
o TQM manager (the facilitator) runs the meeting and asked questions such
as what causes the slabs to be delayed in their construction
o Focuses a lot on improving from previous progress, rather than just
aiming at the objective without appropriate steps being carried out. Time,
cost, quality are to be quantified to be qualified as progression. Figures
play the true role of measuring progress. Facilitator keeps emphasizing
this so everyone can share a common way of progression.
A new exposure to how column strength is test after 1 month hydration period. A
device is used to locate where the reinforcement bars are. A triangle pad, where 3
edges have holes allow tester to mark the place to be probed. 3 probes are
attempted and the results are averagely tabulated. 5 random columns undergone
Windsor probe test to ensure quality is achieve.
1. Erection of formwork. Tableform to be erected if needed. Like for this one on LG level.
2. Surveyors are called in to mark the setting out of column bars on the specified area.
3. Fabric reinforcements (usual reinforcements for PT slabs) are then placed according to
Architects drawing (where discussions with engineersPost-Tensioning
and consultants have takenSlabs
place).
4. StrongForce is called in and their workers will place tendons according to drawing
specification. Aluminum ducts for tendons will be placed before that and tendons are
penetrated into each tube and the combined tendons and ducts are then placed
accordingly.
`
5. Concrete stoppers and concrete spacers (concrete cover) are installed.
Concrete
spacer
6. Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) pipe and electrical wirings are called in and required
installation will take place.
7. Clerk of Works (CoW) associates then comes to check on the column and slabs before
proceeding to concrete work. Inspection form will then be printed out and inspections
will then take place.
8. Upon approval from CoW members, engineers will measure volume needed to be casted
for the slabs and columns, and concrete and concrete pumps are then ordered to arrive at
a specific time for concreting process.
9. At this stage, when the concrete arrives, slump tests and cube tests will be carried out to
meet the quality required.
10. After concreting, the concreted area will be allowed to cure for 3 days before stressing
process (for tendons) can be carried out because that is when 75% strength is achieved
for concrete.
Three(3) days after concrete work, concrete will be able to achieve 75% of its strength and
tendons will be stressed using a stressor machine to straighten the tendons.
Column
There are three types of column used in this project namely the square, rectangle and circular
columns. However, their construction shares the same procedures:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
