Abstract:

El enfoque de este documento es marcar los orgenes del

trmino TQM y clarificar distintas definiciones empleadas
por acadmicos y practicantes.Feigenbaum e Ishikawa
son loas mas grandes contribuidores al desarrollo del
trmino.El otro gur control de calidad total son Cosby ,
Deming y Juran , los cuales han dado forma a as
dimensiones , practicas y mecanismos que se indican,
pero est claro que ninguno de stos menciona el trmino
TQM.Este documento tambin anaiza las dimensiones
clave de TQM y traza sus orgenes.

The focus of this paper is to trace the origins of the term

TQM and clarify the different definitions employed by
academics and practitioners. Feigenbaum and Ishikawa
are perhaps the greatest contributors to the
development of the term. The other recognised quality
management gurus such as Crosby, Deming and Juran
have shaped the dimensions, practices and mechanism
which underpin the concept, but it is noted that none of
these three actually uses the TQM term. The paper also
analyses the key dimensions of TQM and traces their
origins.
