ABOUT TRES ESCALON

The three (3) tiered falls commonly known as TRES ESCALON, a favorite
picnic/recreational site in the 50s and 60s is being rehabilitated and envisioned to be the
next important tourist spot of Taytay. As the term implies, Escalon, a Spanish equivalent of
ESCALOOP denoting a catch basin shaped, where water from upland sources falls and
descending throughout from the second to its third basin. This physical and natural landscape
is a reminder of a level of civilization where mankind co-exists with other living creatures
mainly dependent on sources, the ecology and nature may offer.

For over 30 years, the falls, which was used as a picnic ground, laundry dry area and
sources of water for many, was neglected. The efforts of the officials of Barangay Dolores for
rehabilitating and preserving what are left with it were intended to rediscover this hidden
natural treasure embedded with its scenic beauty.

This early, many individuals and civic organizations and even business establishments
are joining hand in hand for a common purpose of rejuvenating the site, soliciting and
extending support, all for the interest not only of the present generation but also of the
generation yet unborn.

There is a long way to go to fully develop this place. We need all the you can offer so
that our fear of being exposed to a day not too far, when the generation to come will inherit
nothing but parched earth incapable of sustaining life, would and certainly could not ever
happen.

Tungtong River Falls

The Tungtong River Falls was first classified as a creek in the government records
of the municipality of Taytay. This perennial river is located in and around the area of the
Beverly Hills Subdivision and Maharlika Hills Subdivision Barangay Dolores Taytay,
Rizal (in Region IV-A CALABARZON). It stectches for 15 kilometers and it is connected
to the Pasig River by means of the Manggahan floodway.

The Holistic Education and Development Center, a private non-sectarian school, is

located near the whereabouts of the river. Ever since the school saw the situation of the
river, the institution started the campaign for a cleaner Tungtong River. And this
campaign started last 2007.

Mr. Henry G. Calilung, the science coordinator of HEDCen, is also the head of the
Tungtong River Conservation Project. Because of him, many students became involved
with the activities connected to the river. His advocacy was even noticed by a
multinational company. And just recently, he was also noticed by a news network because
of his goal towards the river.

Four senior students from Holistic Education and Development Center (located in
Taytay,Rizal,Philippines,World) Batch 2010-2011 are grouped in the web team to take
note of the happenings of the Tungtong River.

Page 8

Alren Desoyo administers the site. He writes for the site and gives aid to other
members of the group. He will also do the things a group member does in case if the
group member is absent (or even present)

Riana Santos co-administers the site. She will make some writings for site as
well. To get this clear, everyone in the group gets to write blog entries. But before it
can be posted, as much as possible, things to be posted (except for pictures and
videos) will be reviewed by Riana for grammatical errors. Nothing lenient, really.

Dana Cabrera provides photographs to be uploaded in the site. Using her

Samsung L110 Point-and-Shoot digital camera, she takes all the pictures that she
can.

Finally, Georgia Katindig will also provide photographs. She will also get some
updates from the other groups who are studying the river. She is the follow me on
Twitter-type in the group. Therefore, she provides it too.

The Tungtong River Conservation Project is done by 5 groups with different tasks.
