Lesson Objectives (Explicit, observable):
By the end of the lesson students will be able to effectively execute the chest pass, bounce
pass, overhead pass, how to receive a pass, offense & defense, rebound, jump shots, and layups.
Organization Student (individual, partners, 3's, groups of?):
Students will be executing activity as an individual with their own basketball.
Students will be paired for partner activities.
Students will be in groups of 4-5 per station during circuit training.
Informal and Formal Assessment/Evidence of Mastery (Include a variety of methods of checking

WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ENCOURAGE PA BEYOND THE LESSON?


Practice at home with balls, towels or laundry to improve eye & hand coordination.
Create your own space when doing activities so you are not in someone elses space or not
have enough of your own space.
Toss laundry in basket or garbage in cans using the jump shot motion.
CLASS MANAGEMENT:
Student grouping mgmt.: .
(Fitness Portion) students will move towards the closest fitness sign, if too many at one
station, I will give specific instructions of who needs to move elsewhere.
Equipment mgmt.:
(Fitness Portion) Fitness signs will be scattered on the floor near the perimeter of the area.
(Intro Portion) Basketballs will be placed inside hula-hoops on the floor of the perimeter of
the gym.

Mgmt. routines:
(Fitness Portion)
o After Freeze, split class into groups of 4-5 at each station that is the closest to them.
o Move in a clockwise direction after each station.
o Break in played music to alert kids to stop exercise and once I say rotate is when the
kids will move.
(Intro Portion) Move and Freeze 3X
Behavior mgmt.:
Public praise
Silent warning of deviant behavior (only when others are not watching and engaged in an
activity)
Time out after silent warning.
o Follow DPE protocol for time out.
CONTENT SEQUENCE:
Opening/Anticipatory Set: (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real
life)
1. Move & Freeze 3X
Introductory Activity/Warm-up segment:
Move and Pivot:
o Controlled jog while spaced out from others throughout the floor.
o Pivot on right or left foot using different degrees such as 90, 180, or 360.
Fitness Development segment:
Circuit Training:
o Fitness signs that promote agility, cardio-respiratory endurance, upper body strength,
abdominal strength, and balance.
Skill Development content:
Basketball Skills:
o Work on chest pass, bounce pass, overhead pass, how to receive a pass, offense &
defense, rebound, jump shots, and lay-ups.
o Individual skills and partner skills.
Game Content:
Dribble-rama:
o Individuals will dribble and try to knock out other peoples balls and also prevent
others from knocking their balls out of hands too.
Feedback Statements: (specific positive and corrective)

(Positive): Good job using your fingertips when you dribble.


(Corrective): Good job using your fingertips when you dribble, but lets keep our eyes and
head up at the same time while you dribble.
