OPENING
Play Christian music as kids enjoy snacks and friendship. Give kids this discussion starter as they eat. Say: Survey
the kids in our group to find out what they think is the most important decision theyll ever make.
Allow time, then ask kids to share what they discovered.
Say: Before we get started, lets play Blackout that is Musical Chairs played in the dark.
Play this game in a darkened room, with only a small flashlight for light. Set up a circle of chairsall facing out. Place
one less chair in the circle than you have kids playing the game.
Ask kids to form a circle around the circle of chairs and stand with their arms folded across their chests. When the
music starts, have kids march slowly around the circle in a clockwise direction while maintaining the crossed-arm
position. When the music stops, kids have five seconds to find a chair. Anyone standing or sitting on someone else
when the lights come on after five seconds is eliminated from the game. After each round, have each eliminated
player take one chair from the circle. (Let kids who are eliminated take turns choosing when to stop and start the
music.) Play until only two people remain.
Say: Now lets play Balloon Pop and stomp out other peoples balloons.
Give everyone a small, easy-to-break balloon and a 2-foot length of string or yarn. Have kids each inflate their balloon
and tie it to one ankle so the balloon is about 10 inches from the ankle. Then announce that kids are to try to stomp
out other peoples balloons while keeping their own balloon safe.
FREE ADMISSION
Say: It might seem hard for us to believe that someone could believe in Bigfoot but not in Jesus. God took a
huge risk when he gave us the freedom to believe whatever we want. Believing in Jesus is all about choices,
so lets begin our small-group time by making the choice to think about what Gods Word has to say about why
everyone doesnt just believe in Jesus as their savior.
REPORTS
Have groups report what they learned in their Bible study using the following prompt:
Sit in a circle, and pass a gift bag around the circle. As you receive the gift bag, share what you discovered about
receiving or rejecting the gift of Gods Son, Jesus.
CLOSING
Say: Sit, stand, or kneel to pray, or pray with a friend. The choice is yours, as long as you talk to God from
your heart.
Say: Do you believe in Jesus? Not just with the words of your mouth but with your heart? If you do, others need
to hear about it so they can make a choice to believe in Jesus, too. This week, confess your faith in God to
someone this week. Think of a person you know who doesnt know God, and tell him or her how much Jesus
means to you. Share the things you discovered today in John 1 and Romans 10. Show your friend the salvation
equation and the crossroad, and then invite your friend to stop, believe, and receive.
Find the Parent Page for this lesson in the Parent Page folder. Have each child give a copy to his or her parents.
Alternatively, send the file to parents via email.
