Software

Using Lerchs-Grossman, a single large

phase is often created by the sudden
economic viability of ore. Resulting
pushbacks in this case can be too
large to mine bench-by-bench, requiring
mine planners to split up the phase.
Previously, this was challenging because
smaller pits were not available to use
as interim pushbacks. Thanks to the
Alternative Pushback Creation capability,
this problem is overcome as you now
have an option to create interim
pushbacks directly within the software.
With this new feature, mine planners can
decide on a location and increment for
each sub-phase.

New Mining Direction Feature

To help you develop pit designs that are
more practical to mine, Whittle 4.5 offers
mining direction as a built-in option
accessible from the user interface,
making this powerful capability available
to all users for the first time. With the
mining direction feature, users will
benefit from being able to control pit
development more efficiently to produce
the best possible pits for mining.

industry-standard Lerchs-Grossman
algorithm are optimal from a financial
point of view, in many cases the

Import Pit Designs Directly into
Whittle from Various File Formats
Whittle 4.5 simplifies the importing
of pit designs back into the software,
saving you a great deal of time. When
importing pit designs for re-evaluation
and further analysis, the creation and
merger of pit lists or creation of SEG
models is no longer required. Whittle
can now import pit surfaces from DXF,
DTM and BT2 files directly into the block
model, allowing you to focus on planning
and scheduling tasks instead of working
on the file conversion and creation.
New Licensing System
Whittle is the latest Gemcom product
to adopt the licensing system already
shared by Surpac, GEMS, Minex,
and Hub. This system offers license
management through a self-service
licensing option for both standalone
and network licenses. As an added
benefit, Network licenses are now
easier to set up and maintain, and
clients with Network licenses for
multiple Gemcom products will now be
able to manage them all with a single
Network License Manager.
