‘Weare writing to express our concer about DoD personne! missing government travel cards
and American tx payer dollars.
‘The Department of Defense Inspector General (DoD O16) has invesigated these abuses on
ruliple ceasions in recent year. The most ecent vestigation resilled in a report, sued on
‘August 30,2016, in which the DoD OIG found the Department has not done enough o respond
to te infnctions The report indngs also suggest the Deparment ll maintains insufficient
rocesses to address the rable: inufiient istracion onthe appropriate use ofthe
-Fovernment travel ear; improper reimbursements for personal expats anda tepid response
from DoD management to correct these issues. Mos. roubling is thal the most recent audit was

In one year period from July 2013 to June 2014, the inital ait found 4437 transactions
toaling $952,258 in which povernment travel cards were likely wed at asinos for persona we
Furthermore, the report noted more than 900 instances of card being used at adult entrsinment
establishments totaling $96,576,
