STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF BODY

PLANT
WATER TRANPORTATION PROCESS IN PLANT
Goal

: To comprehend water transportation and dissolved

substances

Material and tools :

1. bekker glass / chemical glass 500 ml

2. cutter
3. the fresh impatiens balsamina (pacar air)
4. eosin solution
Step of working :
same size.

1. Prepare two impatiens balsamina that have

2. Pick the leaves of one of impatiens balsamina

3. Cut the root of impatiens balsamina, and then put
the impatiens balsamina in the bekker glass that
contain water and eosin
4. Put the set of experiment in the light place(exist
sunlight)
5. After one hour observe two stem of impatiens
balsamina and make croos slices
6. Make cross slices and observe the center of the
slices
Result of observation

Question

: 1. Which plant the eosin solution moves faster ? the

faster is the still leafless. but since the experiments
we did, the plants are still wilted leaves, so the
faster is the already leafless
2. What is the function of leaf in eosin solution
transport? as the evaporation of water.
3. What are the factor that influence eosin up ward
in impatiens balsamina that have leaf? The
absorbing power of leaf.

4. Make conclusion related with the factors that

influence of water transportation.
- conclusion : factors that influence of water
transportation is root pressure, woody vessel
capillarity, and absorbing power of leaf.

ROOT ANATOMY
Goal

: To know the anatomy structure of monocotyl and

dicotyl root

Material and tools :

1. Corned preperation

2. Microscope
Step of working : 1. Prepare the corned preparation of monocotyl
and dicotyl root.
2. Observe the corned preparation of monocotyl and
dicotyl root.
3. Compare the corned preparation of monocotyl
and dicotyl root.
4. Draw the result of observation

Result of observation

No
monocotyl
.
1. Doesnt have
kambium
2. Xylem >12
3. Have pith
4. Xylem and phloem is
alternating
5. Pericycle consists of
several layers of cells
6. boundary between
the root tip and the

dicotyl
Have cambium
Xylem 2-6 like a star
Doesnt have pith
Collateral. Xylem in
side, phloem outside
Pericycle consists of
layers
boundary between the
root tip and the
calyptra is not clear

Stem ANATOMY
Goal

: To know the anatomy structure of monocotyl and

dicotyl stem.

Material and tools :

dicotyl stem
(peanut)

1. Corned preparation of monocotyl and

2. Fresh stem of monocotyl (corn) and dicotyl

3. Cutter
4. Microscope
5.Object glass and cover glass
6.Water
7.Bekker glass
8. Pipette

Step of working : 1. Observe the corned preparation of monocotyl

and dicotyl stem
2. Find the tissues arenged of stem
3. Compare the anatomy stemof monocotyl and
dicotyl root.
4. Make Cross slices of monocotyl and dicotyl stem
5. Drop water on object glass and put the slices of
monocotyl
