Thank you for your commitment to becoming

a Belden Certified Industrial Network Provider.
We appreciate the effort you have put into
being accepted into the program. The next
steps are for you to complete our training
and be tested and accredited. You also need
to learn the requirements for Belden Certified
Industrial Networks.

We can terminate your accreditation at any

time for any reason and so can you. If this
happens, we will honor any certification projects in progress and we will recommend that
prior customers continue to use your services
for ongoing support.

Your pricing for Belden products is available

of Belden Certified. These components are:

Important Elements of the Belden

Certified Industrial Network Provider
Program
Training Requirements
Once approved for the program your staff
will need to complete training program(s).
While these programs will be offered at no
charge to you, you are responsible for any
travel and related expenses necessary to
participate in the courses.
Annual training is required.
The coursework is intended for experienced
network designers, administrators and controls
engineers. It does not cover basic concepts;
rather it shares Beldens experience and best
practices for designing, implementing, testing
and supporting industrial networks with you.
We expect that you will use the people we
have trained to lead certification projects.
They should also be the primary point of
contact with us during the design and test
reviews.
Annual Review
Once you become accredited you will participate in an annual review of your Belden
Certified Industrial Network Provider performance. We want to have an open dialogue
with you about what worked and what did
not. We also look forward to receiving your
feedback so we can improve this program
and our delivery of it.

Key Program Components

Maximize Belden Product Content
You need to maximize the use of Belden
and its brands (Hirschmann, GarrettCom,
Lumberg Automation, Tofino Security and
Belden wire and cable) in the project. If the
customer has legitimate business reasons
to make exceptions to using Belden products, please call us to discuss them.

Follow the Belden Process for Industrial
Networks
During training you will learn our best
practices and standard work processes for
designing and delivering high performing
and reliable industrial networks. These processes have been developed as a result of
our numerous man-years of participation
in the industrial networking market. We
believe that knowing our processes and
tools will give you a competitive advantage.
To ensure that we both deliver excellent
results for customers, facilitate communication between your team and ours, and
to protect our reputations, following the
Belden process for industrial networks is
very important.
Requirements for Network
Certification Proposals
The network must be a multi-node network that includes Hirschmann and/or
GarrettCom switching and routing
equipment, plus other Belden products
The minimum size limit is $25K BOM
(Bill of Materials) to Belden

Training, Testing, Certification

To become Belden Certified, one or more of
your staff must complete a 3-day training
course and pass the tests given during it. Once
that is done (and your application information
is complete) you will be accredited and
can identify yourself as a Belden Certified
Industrial Network Provider.
Logo
You will then be able to use the Belden
Certified logo on your marketing materials.

Training Overview

1. Network Design
During this lab you will learn the questions
to ask customers to get the information
needed to design their network. You will then
use that information to go through multiple
design steps, each of which requires you to
complete exercises to apply your skills.

Lab exercises include:

Setting equipment to default factory
configuration
Using the HiDiscovery program
Using HiView

Hands-on labs and instruction will utilize

Fluke Networks cable analyzers and teach
you how to test and certify every physical
link in the network. Most importantly you will
learn how to resolve issues when copper or
fiber links do not pass initial testing.

Customizing Industrial HiVision

Scanning the network

Testing of Customers Industrial Networks

Lab exercises include:

Naming links and changing generic icons

Segmenting communications into groups:

subnets

Exploring other HiVision tabs

Once you have completed the required tests

you will forward all test results and photos
to Belden a few days prior to a test review
meeting (usually a telephone conference call).

Segmenting communications into groups:

VLANs Virtual LANs
Creating a network infrastructure by
adding routers and switches

Documenting the state and configuration

of devices in the network
Monitoring events and learning how
to handle them

Provided you and we agree that the project

is acceptable , Belden will issue the Belden
Certified Industrial Network documentation
to you to share with the customer.

Evaluating redundancy needs

Using HiView to connect to a server

running Industrial HiVision

Defining Power over Ethernet (PoE)

requirements

Using the MultiConfig functionality to

configure multiple devices simultaneously

Determining time synchronization needs

Using the Demo Network for simulating

a network

This documentation may note parts of the network not covered by the certification program.
Such exceptions will usually have been discussed with you and the customers at design
time, so that exclusions are not a surprise.

Adding network security

Detecting duplex mismatches and learning to

correct them for best network performance

Warranty

Adding any additional standards or

specifications

Using RSTP or Rapid Spanning Tree for

redundant secondary paths

Choosing the appropriate Belden products

Using MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol)

for redundant secondary paths

Designs for Customer Projects

Preventing network loops using MRP Ring

over RSTP

Choosing the IP Ratings for switches and

routers

On certification projects, once you have

completed a network design, you will forward
it to Belden a few days prior to having a
design review meeting with us.
We will be looking for:
Physical & logical network drawings
A Bill of Materials for the equipment
and media needed for the network
A plan that covers areas of specific
concern or risk
2. Network Installation and
Configuration
This lab teaches the methods used to accomplish
common network configuration and management related tasks using Belden products. The
tasks are arranged in an order that closely
mimics what happens in real world networking installations at facilities around the world.

Belden will extend to your organization, for

the benefit of the customer, an extended
Belden Industrial Component Warranty as per
the details in Appendix 1 Terms & Conditions.
