Pfaff ambition sewing machine

3 large circles, 7" x 7" (18 x 18 cm)

1 1/4 yard x 60" (100 x 150 cm) light weight Black


Denim fabric for quilt blocks and circles

6 medium circles, 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" (14 x 14 cm)


use wrong side

6" x 45" yard (15 x 115 cm) mauve solid cotton


fabric for circles

6 small circles, 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" (8.5 x 8.5 cm)

1 yard x 45" (95 x 115 cm) dark pink tone on tone


fabric for circles, borders and binding

Mauve solid fabric:

32" x 70" (81 x 178cm) quilt batting

6 medium circles, 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" (14 x 14 cm)

2 yard (180 cm) backing fabric


Black sewing thread

Cut from dark pink tone on tone fabric:

Ruler, rotary cutter and cutting mat

Mark the 9 (23 cm) Denim Squares


and circles
Divide the squares and circles in quarters using chalk
or a marking pen.
For Dark 9" (23 cm) blocks mark the crosswise and
lengthwise line on the right side of 6 squares

Pins

For Light 9" (23 cm) blocks mark the crosswise and
lengthwise line on the wrong side of the remaining
12 squares.

Cutting Instructions

Mark crosswise and lengthwise line on wrong


side of the 6 medium 5 1/2" (14 cm) black denim
circles.

Trim selvedge edges from all fabric before cutting.


Black Denim fabric:

Mark crosswise and lengthwise line on right side of


all remaining circles.

3 strips, 9" (23 cm) wide, across width of fabric.


From each strip cut 6 squares 9" (23 cm) for a total
of 18 squares.
2 strips, 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) wide, across width of
fabric. From each strip cut 12 squares 4 1/2"
(11.5 cm) for a total of 24 squares.

Sew Quilt blocks


Block 1 Dark:
(Make 3)
On the right side of a 9" (23 cm) black denim square
place the following circles matching the crosswise and
lengthwise markings as follows:
1. Dark pink large circle
2. Wrong side up of black medium circle
3. Right side up of black small circle
Pin in place to secure.
Thread your Pfaff ambition sewing machine with
sewing thread in the bobbin and light mauve Robison
Anton rayon thread in needle.
Attach presserfoot 0A.
With a straight stitch sew around each circle removing
pins as you sew.
Cut apart on the center lengthwise and crosswise
markings for 4 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks (total 12
block 1 dark).
Block 2 Dark:
(Make 3)
On the right side of a 9" (23 cm) black denim square
place the following circles matching the crosswise and
lengthwise markings as follows:
1. Wrong side up of black medium circle
2. Right side up of black small circle
Pin in place to secure
With a straight stitch sew around each circle removing
pins as you sew.
Feed dark pink yarn through Couching and Braiding
foot and attach to your Pfaff ambition. Select zig-zag
stitch. Starting on one of the crosswise or lengthwise
lines couch the yarn in place following the edge of the
foot against the edge of the middle circle.
Cut apart on the center lengthwise and crosswise
markings for 4 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks (total 12
block 2 dark).

Block 3 Light:
(Make 3)
On the wrong side of a 9" (23 cm) black denim square
place the following circles matching the crosswise and
lengthwise markings as follows:
1. Right side up of black large circle
2. Mauve medium circle
3. Dark Pink small circle
Pin in place to secure
Attach presserfoot 0A.
With a straight stitch sew around each circle removing
pins as you sew.
Attach Open Toe Free-motion foot.
Thread your machine with dark purple Robison Anton
rayon thread.
Lower the feed dogs and set your Pfaff ambition
machine to free-motion following instructions in your
owners manual.
Free-motion stipple the center mauve medium circle
Cut apart on the center lengthwise and crosswise
markings for 4 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks (total 12
block 3 light).
Block 4 Light:
(Make 3)
On the wrong side of a 9" (23 cm) black denim square
place the following circles matching the crosswise and
lengthwise markings as follows:
1. Mauve Medium circle
2. Dark pink small circle
Pin in place to secure
Thread your Pfaff ambition machine with sewing thread
in bobbin and light mauve Robison Anton rayon thread
in needle.
Attach presserfoot 0A.
With a straight stitch sew around each circle removing
pins as you sew.
Attach Open Toe Free-motion foot.
Thread your machine with dark purple Robison Anton
rayon thread.
Lower the feed dogs and set your Pfaff ambition
machine to free-motion following directions in your
owners manual.
ambition Quilt 4

Free-motion stipple the center mauve medium circle


Feed dark pink yarn through couching and braiding
foot and attach to the Pfaff ambition. Select zig-zag
stitch. Starting on one of the crosswise or lengthwise
center lines couch the yarn in place following the curve
of the middle circle.
Cut apart on the center lengthwise and crosswise
markings for 4 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks (total 12
block 4 light).
Block 5 small circle:
(Make 6)
On the wrong side of a 9" (23 cm) black denim square
place the small dark pink circle matching the crosswise
and lengthwise markings. Pin to secure.
Thread your Pfaff ambition machine with sewing
thread in bobbin and light mauve Robison Anton rayon
thread in needle.
Attach presserfoot 0A.
With a straight stitch sew around the circle removing
pins as you sew.
Cut apart on the center lengthwise and crosswise
markings for 4 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks (total of 24
block 5 small circle).
Tassel blocks
Make 12 tassels following illustration.
To make the blocks, attach the " Quilting foot with
IDT and thread your Pfaff ambition sewing machine
with sewing thread top and bottom.

Sew 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) block 5 small circle of blocks to


the plain black denim 4 1/2" (11.5 cm) blocks.
Press seams to plain blocks.
Pin tassel to 12 black square blocks matching end of
tassel a 1/2" (15 mm) from corner seam.
Pin a plain block/circle block to a circle block/plain
block butting the seams together.
Sew together making sure you catch tassel in seam.
Press seam away from tassel.
Finished block 8 1/2" (21.6 cm)

ambition Quilt 5

Circle blocks
Sew blocks 1 and 3 together matching circle edges.
Press seams to one side
Sew blocks 2 and 4 together matching circle edges.
Press seams to opposite side of block 1/3
combination.
Sew blocks 1/3 combination to blocks 2/4
combination butting seams together and matching
circle edges.
Press seam to one side
Finished block 8 1/2" (21.6 cm)

Joining Tassel and Circle blocks


Rows 1 and 3: Place the circle block right side up and
the dark pink circle block in the lower left. Place tassel
block right sides down with dark block in lower right.
Sew together matching corner seams. Repeat for 8 of
the circle and tassel blocks. Press seams toward circle
block
Sew 4 of the circle block/tassel block combination
together for Row 1. Sew the other 4 together for Row
3. Press seams toward circle blocks.

Row 2: Place the tassel block facing up with dark


square in lower left corner. Place circle block right side
down and dark pink circle block in lower right corner.
Sew together matching corner seams. Repeat for 4
tassel and 4 circle blocks. Press seams toward circle
block. Sew the 4 tassle/circle blocks together for Row
2. Press seams toward circle block.
Join Rows 1, 2 and 3 together matching corner seams.
Press seams to one side

Borders
Join the 2 3/4" (7 cm) strips of the dark pink cotton
fabric together. Tip: Mitre the joins so they are not as
obvious.
Measure the long sides of your quilt top and cut 2
strips equal to this length.
Sew strips to the long side of your quilt top. Press
toward border.
Measure the top and bottom of your quilt top and cut
two strips this length.
Sew to the top and bottom of your quilt. Press toward
border

Constructing Quilt
Lay backing fabric wrong side up.
Lay quilt batting on wrong side of backing fabric.
Place your pieced quilt top on the quilt batting. Pin
baste.
Attach your Stitch in Ditch foot and starting in the
center of your quilt, stitch in the ditch of each square to
secure.
Stitch in the ditch of borders.
Attach 0A foot and thread your Pfaff ambition sewing
machine with sewing thread to match dark pink border
fabric.
Fpr echo quilting place edge of your 0A foot along the
seam of the border fabric and sew around the border.
Repeat 3 times placing the edge of your 0A foot
against the previously sewn row.
Trim excess batting and backing fabric.

ambition Quilt 8

Binding
Join the 3" (7.5 cm) strips of the dark pink fabric
together. Join with mitred seams.
Fold wrong sides together lengthwise and press.
From the wrong side of your quilt, place the raw edges
of the binding to the raw edges of your quilt.
Place the edge of your 0A foot next to the raw edges
and, with a straight stitch, attach the binding mitering
the corners.
Fold binding to right side of quilt.
Attach the Bi-Level topstitch foot and, with a straight
stitch, place the red mark of the Bi-level topstitch foot
next to the binding fold and sew binding in place.

Label
On left over piece of black denim create sewing
sequence following directions in your owners manual.
Program Stitch #145 (ambition 1.5) or #101 (ambition
1.0) and a mirror image of the same stitch.
Place a piece of Tear-a-Way stabilizer behind the
denim and thread your Pfaff ambition sewing machine
with rayon thread in the needle and sewing thread in
the bobbin.
Sew the sequence on all four sides of the label.
Select a new sequence and use stitch # 138 (ambition
1.5) or #96 (ambition 1.0) with #146 (ambition 1.5)
or #102 (ambition 1.0). Stitch in the center of your
quilt label.
Select a new sequence and program your name using
one of the built in alphabets on your Pfaff ambition
1.0 or ambition 1.5. Stitch above the center stitch
sequence
Repeat step 5 for the year and stitch below the center
stitch sequence.
Attach your label to the wrong side of your quilt.
