Re: Lead in Water Sampling and Analysis
Altamont Elementary School, Guilderland CSD, Altamont, NY
Dear Mr. Nooney:
CT. Male Associates Engineering, Surveying, Architecture & Landscape Architecture,
D.PC. (CT. Male) has performed lead sample collection of water sources in the
‘Altamont Elementary School building located at 117 Grand Street, Altamont, NY. The
‘water sampling was performed per the September 6, 2016 NYSDOH School Potable
Water Testing and Standards.
Listed below are the analysis results for the lead in water sampling performed. Sixty
‘one (61) samples were collected from this building. The “first draw” water samples
‘were collected in 250 ml bottles from the sources (ie, sink, fountain, etc.) most likely to
bbe a point of water consumption. Analysis was performed using EPA Method 2005
Determination of Trace Elements in Drinking Water (Atomic Absorption Spectrometry)
‘The NYSDOH goa! is to have zero lead in drinking water, however as the lead in water
‘often comes from plumbing sources, the limit for lead in schools is to have no more
than 15ppb of lead in any of the water from sampled sources. Results greater than
15.1ppb will require remediation prior to reuse, The laboratory analytical results are
attached,

In each of the areas above, the result for lea in drinking water is greater than 15.ppb, Per the
requirements of the NYSDOH, these sources shall be placed out of use, until such a time as,
remediation activity has been performed. Public notification to the schoel community isto be
performed, and the exceedance results reported to the NYSDOH.CI. MALE ASSOCIATES
