Activity: The goal of this activity is to introduce students to IPS and allow them to start planning
their path. I have prepared a prezi to walk students through the beginning stages of their IPS. I
will discuss what makes an IPS, the importance of it being individual and what classes students
can take in HS. Students will have the opportunity to complete a Career Matchmaker
assessment that will allow them to know what career clusters to plan for and look for in HS.
Students will also have the opportunity to start creating their IPS, though it will not be
completed.
Evaluation: Following this lesson, I will work with students in very small groups to create their
IPS. I will be pulling them out of class to create this, but if more time is needed than in the small
group, students will need to find their own time during the school day to meet with me. Teachers
have been open to working with me on this.
Estimated Time: 43 Minutes

Specific Suggestions: I will be doing group of 3-4 to work on IPS and I will be going through the
students GS time. I know that GS is a time for SPED teachers to get their minutes, so it is very
important to work with the SPED teachers to find a way to work with them because they do have
to have transition goals in their plans. If there is a Career teacher in the 8th grade, working with
them would also be helpful to make sure there is no repeating of information.
