Constitution
Prepared March 20, 2004.

1. Name:
NSight Mentorship Program.
2. Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to assist first year engineering science
students with their transition from high school to university. This involves
pairing incoming students into groups and assigning at least one an upper
year student to this group, organizing activities, educating mentors on
appropriate mentorship conduct, and provide information to mentors and
first year students regarding various services and facilities at the
University of Toronto. The program was founded in Spring, 2003 by Terri
Chu, Roy Raanani, Philip Egberts, Jon Hillel.
3. Membership:
The requirement for membership is to be a student of Engineering
Science. Mentee participation is fully voluntary and is open to all First
Year Engineering Science students. Mentees will be informed of NSight
through a mailing performed over the summer. Mentor participation is
open to all Upper Year Engineering Science students, although former
Engineering Science students are encouraged to participate in activities to
provide their perspective and advice. Mentors are chosen by the
Executive Committee based on their involvement in Engineering Science,
citizenship, and approachability.
4. Executive:
4.1 President
The president is responsible for organizing and coordinating the members of the
Executive. Further, the President is responsible for motivating mentors and
mentees. Throughout the year, the president should actively look for enrichment
opportunities to bring to the program, frosh, and the mentors. At the end of the
year, the president must ensure a smooth transition of NSight to the new
Executive. Candidate must have been an NSight mentor for at least one year.
4.2 VP Communications
The VP Communication is responsible for maintaining communication with both
Mentors and Mentees.
This includes maintaining the NSight website
(www.ecf.utoronto.ca/~nsight), checking and responding or forwarding e-mails
on a daily basis (nsight@ecf.utoronto.ca), and promoting NSight events to both
NSight participants, and the Engineering Science community as a whole.

4.3 VP Finance
The VP Finance is responsible for allocating and maintaining a budget for the
duration of the year, ensuring receipts are kept for auditing purposes, and ensuring
a budget is obtained for the next years Executive Committee. Furthermore, at
least $150 should be maintained yearly to ensure a Welcoming Event can be
held in the next year, prior to receiving funding.
4.4 VP Social
The VP Social is responsible for organizing and coordinating NSight wide events,
booking rooms with sufficient capacity, ordering and coordinating refreshments,
and act as a liaison between the participants and volunteers of the program and its
Executive. This includes soliciting feedback from participants in ways to improve
the program and fielding suggestions for improvements, communicating those
suggestions to the Executive, and seeing them implemented in a timely manner.
5. Finances:
All activities will be funded by the Division of Engineering Science, the
Engineering Science Club, or by the members of the NSight Program.
The funds are held by the Engineering Science Club however, they have
no authority on how the funds are managed or spent. All spending
decisions are controlled by the Nsight Executive.
6. Meetings:
Meetings will be held at a minimum of once per month during the
academic year. Meetings should be conducted to discuss the current state
of affairs, discuss suggestions and possible events suggested by Executive
members, Mentors, and Mentees. Furthermore, Mentors should meet with
their group once per month in an informal setting and should actively
promote communication with their Mentees.
7. Elections:
Elections will be made on an annual basis. Two weeks prior to a set date,
the current President will notify the club members that elections are going
to take place. Those interested in holding positions in office will then
have to demonstrate interest in that position by putting your name forth to
the executive for the position that you would like to hold. The members in
full standing will then vote.

8. Amendments:
Amendments can be made to this constitution by a majority vote of the
membership.
