The newsletter provides updates on classroom activities from the last two weeks, including guests visiting the class and using new technology for writing practice. It announces an upcoming field trip and the Halloween parade and party, reminding that no masks or weapons are allowed. It outlines focus areas in math, literacy, and spelling, and saves dates for upcoming events. It praises the students' quick transitions between activities and sets a weekly goal of helping new crewmates each day.

I d like to start with an apology for the lack of newsletter
and online updates the last two weeks. I have made it a personal goal to better keep on top of communication. Thank you for your patience. The last two weeks have been very exciting in our class! We have had a lot of guests coming in to watch our class and so many parents have been able to make it in to help! One exciting way we have been implementing technology in our class is by using Utah Compose to practice our writing as well as work on keyboarding. The universal password for students to access this at home is eagles . Students can login using their state assigned ID. Those should be written down in their planners coming home today (10/19). I am blown away by the quality of the students math game projects! Thank you parents for all the support you give at home to help your children enjoy school. It makes a significant difference! Next Wednesday we will be going on our first field trip to the Observatory and Gale Center. Please have all permission slips turned in by MONDAY (10/24). Friday (10/28) is our Halloween celebration. The parade will begin at 9am and the school is asking parents to remain in the gym while the entire parade goes through. This may be as long as an hour. The class party will begin right after that event. Please remember no masks or weapons of any kind will be permitted.
Math: We are focusing now on strategies
to solve division problems. We will also be starting to work specifically with word problems. Please keep working on the math facts at home, new flashcards have been sent out and we will have Quick Quizzes every Tuesday and Thursday. Literacy: We are writing a Halloween story and working on choosing strong words (not using said ) and strong verbs. We have learned how to correctly use dialogue and introduce characters, problems, and setting. Spelling: New spelling words coming home in the Homework Packet. I have uploaded the spelling lists onto Spelling City (www.spellingcity.com/tolbert3)
