1. How does Claro M.

Recto see Filipino nationalism that it can lead us to true

independence and experience of democracy? Your explanation must not exceed 20
sentences.
Recto define nationalism as having a strong devotion and direct interest on Filipino
patriotism. He was very vocal in advocating nationalism in our country. Filipinos during
those time were really not an anti-American or anti-Japanese they were just against the
way the government handle its policies and the way it operates. Frankly, we need an aid
from our neighboring countries in order to progress economically and there are many
ways of doing that without depriving our own sense of nationalism. In other words, we
can secure a national identity as well as enjoy sovereignty.
Based on his famous line we cannot attain affluence and happiness as a nation unless our
political independence is complete. This tells us that without complete freedom from
these invaders we could never adopt our own policies conducive to our needs but we
must put in mind that true independence is not an assurance of good governance but it is
the first step to lead that way. Most of us are stranger in our own country. Patronizing our
own would greatly strengthen our uniqueness from others.
He also viewed the significance of heroic deeds of our national heroes. Recto supported
the writings of Jose Rizals by passing a bill mandating the reading of Noli Me Tangere
and El Filibusterismo in all universities and schools. This act of goodness shows his
advocacy in strengthening patriotism. What we truly need is to wake up from this false
hope and be proactive in safeguarding what is really ours.
2. How does Claro M. Recto view Human being in relation to his or her own society. What is the
role of women in this society? Your discussion must not exceed 20 sentences.
Most of the article I've read says that Mabini and Recto has the same view towards
political ideas that were shaped by socio-economic and political state of our country. For
them, human beings were given the right to live by God hence he has the responsibility to
do good and perform just actions to others with accordance to right reason that will not
deprive the rights of others. Mans thought and action is shaped by his environment. The
moral values we repeatedly perform is the result of our contributions in our society. A life
that is not habituated with great deeds is useless. According to Recto, the law is the law
and it should be observed by all, theres no such thing as authority as we are all equal in
the eyes of God.
The role of women in the society were expanded as generation goes by. Women in
Filipino culture is often connected directly in terms of managing business and the one
who took care about family matters but they retained the opportunity to receive education
regardless of gender. Women in our society are gifted with equal rights and because of
this a lot of women are now professionals.

The government should protect that will not har

1. According to Constantino, how does nationalism affect the government in its role for
nation building? your discussion must not exceed 30 sentences.
Nationalism signifies ones love for his nation but we shouldnt be nationalism in nature
we also act from it. He believes that the resources of Philippines should be for the benefit
of Filipinos and not the other way around. The nationalism we practice is way far
different to the usual we cant seem to revive our cultural identity which means that we
are politically unstable.
The nationalism we inherent is false attributes from our foreign invaders thats why the
government is having a hard time to advocate nation building. Nationalism affects the
government in such a way that Filipinos has so much love to give in their birthplace and
loyalty thats why they tend to misunderstood each other because they are more offended
by negative comments to their hometown. The rivalry with ethnic groups were very
strong which results to the mismanagement of the government.
2. Determine and explain the relation between education and nationalism in reforming
our colonial consciousness into a nationalist consciousness. Your explanation must
not exceed 30 sentences.
Ever since we fail to identify ourselves apart from these foreign colonizers it is alo
what we called missing identity. In all political thought from our Filipino thinkers
the essence of having formal education and pride on our own is seen as a vital tool in
liberating minds from oppression. The education introduced by Americans was a
product of colonial policy which means that they were really not into helping us to be
literate and educated but to kept us from being ignorant. It draws more attention in
educational system and language, so we must produce an educational system that is a
product of our own that is based to meet the ends of.
So much effort has been put in order to change the consciousness of Filipino in its
struggle for emancipation but until now the situation is still the same. A nationalist

consciousness can be a powerful factor in shaping our viewpoint and interest to

defend our own.
