RE: TUBERCULOSIS ERADICATION

Dear Mr. Brown,

The Tuberculosis Eradication Program (TEP) is pleased to bring the following proposal for your
review. We are looking forward to being partners with you in the war against tuberculosis in
Ohio State. The country has the highest cases of tuberculosis around the world thus creating the
need to eradicate it. The aim of the Tuberculosis Eradication Program aims at campaigning

SURNAME 2
against tuberculosis so that we can evade some of its side effects since it might lead to death
under extreme conditions.
In the past two years, we have piloted the program, and there has been a reduction in the number
of individuals contracting tuberculosis. Typically, the program provides screening services and
also vaccinates people to eradicate the disease in the community.
It is evident that there has been a measurable success and we are now seeking to expand the
Tuberculosis Eradication Program so that we can save more people with tuberculosis. Our
proposal requests $50,608 in the funding to obtain the screening materials both software and
hardware and training more individuals to assist in the program.
We appreciate the XYZ Foundation in taking part to assist us in fighting tuberculosis (which is
currently a threat in this zone) through funding our program. Kindly give me a call at 350-830166-9050 in case you require any information regarding this proposal.

Thank you,

Project Abstract
We are seeking to expand the Tuberculosis Eradication Program with the sole aim of
helping the individuals with tuberculosis within the region by providing an outpatient healthcare
program to most of the people. The objective is that in six months the cases of tuberculosis
should have been reduced by half. The Tuberculosis Eradication Program is founded on the latest
screening machines so that the accuracy of the results can be high. We also strive to provide the
best medication such as vaccines to the patients so that we can do away with the bacteria
completely. Funding amounting to $50, 608 is invited for us to acquire modern machines for
screening and also appropriate and effective medication. This will also help in improving both
the software and hardware of our systems for the good of the patients.
Statement of Need
Texas has about 100, 000 people with tuberculosis. This increases the chances of other
healthy individuals contracting the disease since it is an airborne illness. This makes the
Tuberculosis Eradication Program eligible for the funds since if appropriate measures are not
taken, about 50, 000 healthy people will acquire tuberculosis through breathing.
Program Description
The Tuberculosis Eradication Program will ensure that people with tuberculosis are
screened and given appropriate medication. Additionally, it will also guarantee vaccination to
those who havent been vaccinated yet. Through this program, the probability of tuberculosis
cases increasing are reduced thus bringing up a healthy society. Also, this program will offer
education to people regarding some of the ways that can be used to prevent tuberculosis by

SURNAME 4
showing them the causative agents of the disease. The program uses a machine referred to as
GeneXpert for the screening of Tuberculosis.
GeneXpert
This technology helps in the fast screening of tuberculosis. It uses the advanced
molecular tricks to identify the DNA of M.tuberculosis which could not be seen outside a stateof-art biology laboratory some years back (Walusimbi, et al. 2013). The technician takes a
sample from the patient puts it to the machine which then amplifies the molecules of the bacteria
(Tan, et al. 2014). Fluorescence occurs in the case of any traces of the bacteria showing that the
individual has tuberculosis. The whole process takes about two hours, and it is interesting to note
that apart from the machine telling the presence of the bacterial DNA, it can tell whether it can
mutate to make the disease resistant to the commonly used drugs (Hillemann, et al. pp 12021205).

Goals and Objectives
The purpose of this program is to help individuals with tuberculosis and vaccinate those
healthy people so that they might not be at risk of contracting the bacteria. It aims at fighting
tuberculosis so that we can have a healthy community to make it easier for us to progress.
Besides, the program attempts to reduce the cases of tuberculosis from the previously recorded
numbers by providing the appropriate healthcare to the people.

SURNAME 6
The number of people with tuberculosis will be recorded at the start of the program and at
eh end of the program to determine the level of prevention of the disease among the people of
this region. Additionally, the number of people vaccinated against tuberculosis will also be
recorded.

RE: Tuberculosis Eradication Program

The Tuberculosis Eradication Program is seeking funding to eradicate the prevalence of

tuberculosis within the Ohio States. The patients of tuberculosis suffer variously from different

SURNAME 8
symptoms that if they are not treated, they might lead to death. The aim of this program is to do
away with tuberculosis and its effects on the human health. Finance of $50, 608 is requested to
implement this program through the purchase of both the hardware, software and drugs to help
fight against tuberculosis.
Approximately 100, 000 people are estimated to have tuberculosis in Ohio. This increases the
prevalence of tuberculosis in this region since it is an airborne disease. It implies that this
number is set to rise if appropriate measures are not taken. This makes the Tuberculosis
Eradication Program eligible for the above-mentioned funding so that it can protect other
individuals from contracting tuberculosis while eradicating the bacteria completely.
The Tuberculosis Eradication Program through the GeneXpert machine will ensure that
tuberculosis is eliminated in this region. Samples from the patients will be screened through the
GeneXpert machine to determine the presence of the causative bacteria. In the case of presence
of the bacteria, appropriate medication will be administered to the patient to get rid of the
bacteria. For the healthy individuals who have not been vaccinated yet, vaccination will also be
provided to them.
The objective of the Tuberculosis Eradication Program is to ensure that tuberculosis is eliminated
in our society due to the increasing deaths as a result of this disease. The budget stated above
includes five GeneXpert machines, five Acer computers that will be able to support five working
stations simultaneously. This machines will improve the accuracy of the results obtained and thus
help largely in eradicating tuberculosis. As mentioned earlier, the evaluation will be done by
recording the number of people with tuberculosis at the beginning of the exercise and the end of
the program.
