5.1 Resetting Boards

This procedure describes how to reset a board on the Dynamic Management tab.
Board reset is one of the common alarm handling measures. A board reloads the running
version after it is reset. Users can check whether an alarm is cleared after a board reset.

Note:
Board reset may affect the current services of a base station to some extent.

For more details, refer to Table 5-1.

Table 5-1 Impact of Board Reset on Base Station Services
Board Reset

Service Impact

CC (without active/standby boards)

Services are interrupted.

PM (without active/standby boards)

SA (BSs connected with E1/T1 cables)
FS (without active/standby optical fibers from
BS to FS)
CHV, CHD, or RTR

The service currently carried by the reset board is

interrupted.
If several channel boards are configured, not all the
services are interrupted.

CC (with active/standby boards)

No impact.

Context
Board reset operations include:
l

Typical reset
A typical reset refers to resetting a board by sending a software message. However,
if the target board is out of control, it cannot be reset.

Forcible reset
A forcible reset refers to resetting an uncontrolled board forcibly by cutting off the
power supply to the target board.

Steps
1. In the left navigation tree, select the NE where the board to be reset belongs, see 1 in
Figure 5-1.
Figure 5-1 Example for Resetting Boards

2. In the Dynamic Command navigation tree, double-click Reset Board, see 2 in Figure
5-1. The NEs that can execute this command are displayed in the right pane.
You can use either of the following methods to find the Reset Board command:
l
l

(Recommended) Enter the key word (s) in the text box, for example, Reset
Board.
In the Dynamic Command navigation tree, select SDR > Device Group > Reset
Board.

3. Select one or more boards, see 3 in Figure 5-1.

4. click

, see 4 in Figure 5-1.

Chapter 5 Examples of Typical Operations

5.2 Resetting or Blocking NEs in Batches

During the troubleshooting or update process in a local area, multiple NEs may need to be
reset or blocked in batches.
This procedure uses the operation for resetting NEs in batches as an example. This
operation is similar to the operations for blocking NEs in batches, only differing in dynamic
commands.

Prerequisite
The Dynamic Management tab is displayed.

Steps
1. Select the NEs to be reset in batches on the NE tree, see 1 in Figure 5-2.
Figure 5-2 Resetting NEs in Batches

2. Double-click the Reset NE command on the dynamic command tree, see 2 in Figure
5-2. The NEs for which the dynamic command can be executed are displayed in the
NE list.
You can use either of the following methods to find the Reset NE command:
l
l

(Recommended) Enter the key word (s) in the text box, for example, Reset NE.
In the Dynamic Command navigation tree, select SDR > Managed Network
Element > Reset NE.

3. Select the NEs to be reset in batches, see 3 in Figure 5-2.

4. click the

button, see 4 in Figure 5-2.

5.3 Enabling or Disabling PAs in Batches

During the troubleshooting process in a local area, you may need to operate multiple PAs
within the area.
This procedure uses the operation for enabling PAs in batches as an example. This
operation is similar to the operation for disabling PAs in batches, only differing in dynamic
commands.

Prerequisite
The Dynamic Management tab is displayed.

Steps
1. Select the NEs for which PAs are to be enabled in batches on the NE tree, see Figure
5-3.
Figure 5-3 Enabling PAs in Batches

2. Double-click the PA On command on the dynamic command tree. The NEs for which
the command can be executed are displayed in the NE list.
You can use either of the following methods to find the PA On command:
l
l

(Recommended) Enter the key word (s) in the text box, for example, PA On.
In the Dynamic Command navigation tree, select SDR > Device Group > RRU
> PA on.

3. Select the NEs to be reset in batches, see 3 in Figure 5-3.

4. click the

button, see 4 in Figure 5-3.
