our church and community. It showcases new events that may not be
present in our monthly newsletter. The Weekly News is also posted
on our website: www.esumc.net along with other news and events.
If you want your activity to be included, please make your
submissions to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Welcome Visitors!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome
you. As a church we are committed to Love Jesus Christ
and to Share His Love. We offer three services: 8:30 and
11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m. is contemporary.
~ Our Welcome Center is located in Oberholtzer Hall, the room next
to the sanctuary. Brochures on all our ministries are available there.
~ Our Holy Grounds Café is a place for light refreshments and coffee
from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. each Sunday in our Fellowship Hall. The
café provides worshipers with an informal opportunity for fellowship.
~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from
8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church
and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent
volunteers.
~ Children’s Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the
11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be
dismissed after the Children’s Message. Please pick up your children
in the lower level of the church following worship.

Opportunities for Congregational Care and Service to the Church
Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the
discerning get guidance. Proverbs 1:5
Prayer: Lord of the Church, we give you thanks for the life and ministry
of your servants in this congregation. We thank your for the gift of your
Holy Spirit, empowering their journey of faith and service. Today we
pray for the Spirit's guidance as we recruit Stephen Ministers. Open the
ears and hearts of those you have prepared for a ministry of care giving.
Rise up those whom you have blessed with the gifts of mercy,
compassion, faith, and encouragement, that they might develop their
gifts and use them to bring your love and forgiveness to people in need.
We pray in your name and by the power of your Spirit. Amen.
Beginning September 8, an in-depth training course will be offered
for members who desire to become involved in this life changing
ministry. Stephen Ministry Sunday is July 18, and a weekly emphasis
will continue each Sunday through the month of August. For more
information contact Peggy Strack at the church office at 570-421-3280.
New Support Groups at Pocono Medical Center. An Alzheimer's
support group will meet the third Tuesday of every month from 5-6 p.m.
An amputee support group will meet the second Saturday of each month
from 2-3 p.m. For information, see the fliers on the Congregational
Care Bulletin Board in Oberholtzer Hall.
Items Available: A case of ThickenUp, an instant food thickener for
people who have trouble swallowing, is available to anyone who can use
it by calling Peggy at 421-3280, ext. 23. A Free Hospital Bed, in
like-new condition, is available for anyone in need. If interested, call
Nancy, 420-9007.

Opportunities to Support and Enhance Worship
The Altar Flowers are given to the Glory of God
Thanks are given to the Children’s Choir, plus their leaders Jenni Poole
and Melissa Richie, and all the parents. Today they end their season
combing with the Chancel Choir, who have met and served faithfully
each week. Both Choirs will resume in September.
Sacred Sing-Along is Sunday, July 18 at 3 p.m., our 2nd event Organ
Concert Series, featuring ensembles in various styles led by John Brush,
Pauline Fox and Doug Malefyt. Guests will be Bob Mallalieu and Norm
Williams playing mountain and Celtic hymns on dulcimers. A picnic
style social sponsored by UMW will follow the program. The program
is free and open to the public. Community visitors will attend, and you
will have a good opportunity to walk across the room in welcome.

50/50 and Food.
Food Bank Sunday- Food collected today will be shared among our
Soup Kitchen, The Salvation Army, and Follow Me Foundation. Please
place your donations in the Food Bank Box in Oberholtzer Hall.
Specific items needed: Canned tuna, chicken, meats, fruits, vegetables,
ravioli, spaghetti & meatballs, hearty soups, boxed pasta, pasta sauce,
cereal, mayonnaise, peanut butter and jelly.
Prayer and Praise
If you have a prayer request, please list it either on the prayer sheet in the rear
of the sanctuary or on the back of the friendship pad. Please be sure to include
your name on the request. This aids us in updating our weekly prayer requests.
Confidentiality is very important. We, as a church family, want to honor each
person's right to privacy. Please be mindful of this as you write your requests .

District Conference News

The Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference was held on May 20, 21
and 22. As your Lay Delegate, I attended the Laity Sessions. Speakers
presented Lay Ministry Initiatives in the four focus areas: Developing
Leaders, Revitalizing Congregations, Eliminating Poverty and
Improving Health. The featured speaker was Adam Hamilton, pastor of
the 12,000 member United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in
Kansas. Pastor Hamilton presented three sessions covering leadership,
worship and evangelism. We voted on several resolutions. The
resolution urging repeal of Pennsylvania's gambling laws and abstention
from gambling passed. The amendment to the policy: Safe Sanctuaries,
Reducing the Risk of Abuse in the Church was tabled, as more
information is needed. The grand finale was the Service of Ordination.
Our own Pastor Candy LaBar was commissioned. Pastor Bob
Amundsen was also commissioned and Pastor Bob Hatchman was
ordained. Please keep them in your prayers. If you would like further

Next Sunday is Pastor Frank’s Last Sunday with
us. He and Robin will be in transition the week of
June 27 for their new appointment to Simpson
Memorial United Methodist Church in Philadelphia.

Children’s Ministry Nursery - Sixth Grade
News From The Nursery: It is with sadness that we announce our
Nursery Attendant, Megan Bledsoe has resigned. Her last Sunday, June
20. Please go by the nursery and give her a big hug and a thank you for
her two years of dedicated service to our little ones. We wish God’s
blessing on Megan as she starts a new chapter in her life.
Substitute Teachers and Aids are needed from June 27 through August
Our dedicated teachers could use some time off to recharge! Please
consider serving for a week or two, sign-up sheets are located outside
the classroom doors.

Jr. High and Youth Group Programing.
Youth Sunday School Classes for all youth in 7th - 12th grades meet
weekly at 11 a.m. in the Youth Room.
Sunday Night Youth Program will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. The evening
will consist of fellowship, worship music, message and games.
Summer Bible Studies and Pool Time are scheduled for Wednesday,
June 23, Thursday, July 15 and Thursday, August 5. Watch the Weekly
News for times and places.
J.A.M (7th and 8th grade outreach), will return in September along
with the Jr. High Boys Bible Study. Thanks to all the volunteers and
Jr. High Students who made these programs a success during the 2009-
10 school year.
2010 Summer Mission Trips - Sr. High Mississippi Trip for students
completing 8th -12th grades is Friday, July 23 – Sunday, August 1. Jr.
High Pittsburgh Project Trip is Monday July 5 – Friday July 9 for all
students going into 7th or 8th grade. A $70 non-refundable deposit is
needed to reserve your spot. See Scott Kuhnle for more information.
Creation 2010 - If you are interested in attending this trip from June 30-

trip is $130 per person.
