LAB 3: Customizing Your Demo - Basics

Purpose of Lab

The purpose of this Lab is to help you quickly modify the standard
AGSS Demantra Demo Script to look like a custom demo for your
prospects. The lab will also show you how to use the data wizard to
modify some of the hierarchy as a customization technique. You will
create 2 simple worksheets that contain all the hierarchy used in the
standard demo, that you can edit to reflect the products, groupings and
organizations matching your prospects environment.

NOTE: This setup does not customize the CTO worksheets, as that
BOM hierarchy is complicated, and we recommend NOT changing. It
also does not change the Promotions used during the promotion part of
the demo, but you can easily copy any promotion and rename to fit your
needs, directly from the Vision Promotion worksheet. Using these tools,
you should be able to completely change the look and feel of the
products and descriptions to meet your customers requirements in less
than 1 hour, and be able to follow then be able to follow the standard
demo script.

THIS LAB SHOULD BE DONE ONCE FOR EACH INSTANCE.

STUDENTS ON SAME INSTANCE NEED TO WORK
TOGETHER.

14. Open your worksheet xx-Customize Products. You can see that the data wizard changed the
SKUs, Product Categories, Trading Partner Zone, and added the custom description to
TST:xx org. (For this lab, this is all represented with xx or DN in front of old description) As
of this writing, the data wizard does not update Product Family, or resources used in your xxCustomize Resources worksheet. The DSS tickets associated with these enhancements are
359465 and 359464. Please associate these tickets to any of your demo registrations for a
higher priority to be assigned. NOTE: This data wizard has the product families included in
its content in hopes this is resolved soon, but they are not being updated. Until the wizard is
working, you will need to manually update the product families, and if necessary the
resources to customize for your demo.

LAB 3: Customizing Your Demo - Basics

15. Fortunately this is very simple process in Demantra. Just right click on the product family
level, and edit product family to match your customer hierarchy requirement. Work with
your instance-mates to be sure that you do not each try to relabel same hierchary. One
should relabel Desktops, Notebooks, Peripherals, the other the Vision Pad Families.
NOTE: Obviously, you can edit your entire demo using the right click capability in Demantra.
The benefit of using the wizard is that you can now simply unpublish to back out your changes
so your demo is back to your standard starting point, making it easier for you to have baseline for
your next demo. Also, the data wizard makes the changes in the Planning Server so the changes
are there for ASCP, APCC, etc. if you are doing an integrated demo. Most of the demo focuses
on the Vision Pad family and items, so you could just change those to represent 3 of your
prospects hierarchies if desired.
Review the Worksheets used in the standard demo to see the affect of your changes. HINT: If
you rename your worksheets with numbers as shown here, they will come in in your worksheet
list in order. For Lab purposes, you would need to do this with unique initials, or just once
per instance.

Tips and Tricks

Save the worksheets you like to use in sequence of the demo: 1.0 Vision Monthly Demand;
2.0 NPI Worksheet, etc. They will then sort automatically to the top of the open worksheets,
making it easier to remember your demo flow.
ALTERNATIVELY: Number and NAME your worksheets to match a particular demo point or
section when doing a scripted demo. For example, if you have a scripted demo point that says
show how your system can aggregate and disaggregate based on month and week, or
category and item. Copy and save the Vision Monthly and Weekly Demand worksheets to
Aggregate and Disaggregate and the specific demo point number.

USE youre my Task Portlet to make many of your scripted demo points! If you have a script
point that says notify user if forecast error is greater than 15%. Just create a task saying
that and point and talk to how workflow monitors and will send task with the associated
worksheet. You can also send the worksheet as a task manually to make this point!

An easy way to make your dates look more current is to go to worksheet designer, Time
section, Advanced and add a year to the offset. This displays all data a year later IN THAT
WORKSHEET only. This is quick and dirty way to change one or two of your first
worksheets so that the forecast looks like it really is in the future! However, depending on
timing, you could be showing future dates for history so it could be more difficult to explain
than the old dates associated with a demo environment.
There is a another to change demand data to be more current. This is explained in the How to
Demo Demantra from DSS Script. Those instructions are included for your convenience
below. NOTE: This process ONLY moves forward the Demand Data dates; so the
RTSOP worksheets that use supply Plans WILL NOT show properly after this update
(Worksheets 9.1 9.3 shown above). To do a complete integrated update you must follow
the steps detailed in AGSS S&OP Custom Build Process available on DSS Demo Docs web
site

Return to the Demantra>Content tab, and you will see your backup; Per the DSS Script

your schema to your desktop to save. It is then available for you to upload to any other
instance of same release. The complete instructions for archiving and restoring your schemas
(or dmp files) is included in the DSS Script How to use Demantra in DSS environment
