1.0 Executive Summary

First of all, Were here today to provide a report regarding our pair
assignment which were created and animated in Adobe Flash
Professional CS6. We have been learning Adobe Flash Professional
CS6 from the beginning of the semester which is from Week 1 till 7.
Weve been guided all the way from beginning by our lecturer, Mr.
Andrew. Weve been given enough practice to create the objects and
animation with few tweenings to ensure that it will be helpful for our
pair assignment. Finally, were here after finish creating the MV
Flash movie. Below are some are the techniques weve learned
throughout the lab class :

2.0 Explanation On Storyline and Storyboard

Characters
1. Ella A young friendly and cool type girl, a friend of Niko and girlfriend of
Eric.
2. Niko A young friendly and kind type boy and a friend of Ella.
3. Eric A handsome guy and the boyfriend of Ella.
Storyline

Once upon a time Ella and Niko were friends.

Until one day Ella got in a relationship.
Because of that Ella and Niko no longer talked to each other.
Until finally Niko contacted Ella and she realized that friends are

important.
5. From that day onwards their friendship recovered.
Storyboard
Ella and Niko are very close and best friends since small. They both always hang out
together and do crazy things together. They used to go pool club once in a week. One
fine day, as days passes by Ella met a guy in the club who is very handsome and
smart. After few months for meeting him in the club both of started talking and gets
into relationship. After all, when Niko calls Ella to hang out with him, she will ignore
cause she had plans with Eric. Niko was very upset and just wants to see her to be
happy with him. After few months of being in relationship with Eric, she realizes that
shes not spending time with Niko and started missing him. She sends Niko text
messages and called him for meet up. Niko was very happy after sometimes cause of
the happiness that hes going to meet her. On the day of meet up, she apologies to
Niko and they started talking to each other again.

Explanation on Media Elements of MV Flash movie

There are few media elements to put under consideration during creating the MV
Flash movie which is stated below:

Fonts

We have assigned the fonts to be used in all situation case by case basis plan. Weve
used the many types of Font Family to develop our MV Flash movie.

As you observe the picture above we have used the Serif Family Font type which is to
develop our introduction in our MV Flash movie.
The word We dont talk anymore comes from a Serif family which is called Trajan
Pro. We used the font because we want the audience to not have any difficulties to
read the lyrics when they sing along when the movie is playing.
Besides that, the word Niko comes from a Sans-Serif family which is called Impact
font. We used this font to seek attention of the audience to identify the characters
name easily.
We have created all our text using by repeating of few types of font family to not mess
up with perfection and makes and difficulties for the audiences.
3.3

Text and Color

By looking at our

must have known that

what are the color

contrast which weve

used.

As you observe the picture above we have used different type of colors to make the
movie even more better.
If you focus on the curtain on the left, weve used the color gradient of red and white
mixture to show how it looks in real world as well.
Moreover, the windows color has to be matched with curtain color and the wall color
contrast so that itll show a more realistic.
Moving on to the tone color of the characters, which is Ella, Niko and Eric.

Ellas skin tone color was set at HEX#FFE4CA which is a solid color and her hair
color was set at HEX#990000 which is a solid color as default for all the frames.

Nikos skin tone

color was set at

HEX#D6B7A3 which is a solid color and his hair color was set at HEX#000000
which is a black solid color as default for all the frames.

Nikos skin tone

color was set at

HEX#D6B7A3 which is a solid color and his hair color was set at HEX#9B4E00
which is a solid color as default for all the frames.

3.4

Images and Graphics

The images and graphics which were animated in the MV Flash movie, looks more
professional and realistic because all of the objects were drawn using the pen tool with
Bezier curve. Weve been trained by Mr. Andrew during the lab class to participate in
a game called The Bezier Game which helped us a lot during creating all the objects
for animation.

The above is the picture we have used as a reference to create the car object.
As you observe the picture below, you can see the car is well drawn without any sharp
curves. The car is an example where you can see where the Bezier curve has actually
helped us to create a more realistic car object like in real world.

3.5

Audio

The audio for the storyboard was chosen by us which is We Dont Talk Anymore by
Charlie Puth. We choose this song because this song was perfectly suits our story
which we have created. This song lyric tells the audience what is actually happening
in MV Video movie and the audience will easily understand the flow of the story.

3.6

Animation

As per the picture above you can see that, we have used quite number of tweening and
masking techniques.

So, this were a shape tweening occurs. A great friendship story was created using a
text tool in the first frame and then it has been break apart for twice to make it to stand
by its alone. Then, after few frames further We dont talk anymore was created with
the text tool again and then it has been break apart for twice to make it to stand by its
alone as well. Final step which was done is go to the first frame and click shape
tweening and it changes the frame color to purple to identify as Shape tweening.

Motion Tweening, takes place here when at the frame we apply the motion tweening
and just drag the objects and it created the motion movement at the stage.

By using the motion tweening, you could really see the smoothness when youre
trying to move it to a place to another place as what is happening in the picture above.

4.0

Problems and Solutions

PROBLEMS
We have encountered quite numbers of problems during creating the MV Flash movie
assignments. First of all, we create quite number of character from each views and it
takes up much time. Besides that, we were having quite large number of frames so that
we had taken up hours to do it as the frames all were having different situation.

SOLUTIONS
We would strongly recommend to create the storyboard with more types of frames like
close shot, medium shot, long shot, and extra close shot for a situation so that you can
drag the time frame and also dont have to create much objects for that as you can
reuse the same objects for the frames. Furthermore, create the characters once and use
the same characters drawing as object and you can change the angle if there is a shot
from any other angles. We both manage to clear up all the problems encountered in a
day as we both were at the same location and divide the work among ourselves.

I have a learn a lot of new techniques by creating this MV Flash movie using Adobe
Flash Professional CS6. Moreover, Im the type of person who finds drawing is hard
and doesnt likes to draw but now I can easily draw anything with the pen tool and the
Bezier curve works at its best. I would highly recommend to all my friends about this
new technique which Ive learned so far. Thank you Mr. Andrew for guiding us out
through all thick and thins by providing us extra lab classes. Thank you.

5.3 Tan Zhong Zhern

Doing this assignment made me realize that animation is a very difficult work and
takes a lengthy time to create, not counting adding in SFX, lyrics, transition effects
and many others that have to be done after completing the animation part. I learned
how to pick the most suitable tweening method for the animation I wish to create, and
how each tweening has its own applications in the method of animation. I also learned
how to cooperate with a partner and cover for their weak points. I also discovered
several of my own weak points like difficulty drawing good looking images on paper
and creating a story.
