1. Starter(10mins):

Share the learning objectives and learning outcome with the students.
Brain storm about the main unpredictable challenges that can face a
business.

Then you can ask them to continue with their research. May be you can ask them to keep in
mind they are to set up in UAE- in any emirates. So based on that they can follow the set up.
2. Teaching and learning activities:
2a. Development (20mins):

The plan for the business chosen is ready. The Form tutor need to guide them
how they can set up their chosen business using the following skills- Flexibility,
adaptability, Good organizational skills.
Many come up with bright ideas and write powerful business plans but only few
ever dare to start a business. Starting a business is like building a ship and
embarking on a voyage, armed with a plan, a map and a team. You will have to
sail against storms, unpredictable weather and uncertainty. If your ship sinks,
its either you quit or you swim back to shore, build a new ship and sail again.
So, Starting a business is just the beginning of the game; sustaining that
business is where the real challenge lies. This is where you fight to keep the
business you have started afloat. You will have to handle competition, find
customers, deal with critical business challenges, pay bills upon bills, and deal
with employees and so on. This is where the stress of running a business gets
worst.
Now they will have to really look into many aspects of obstacles can face a business and to find ways to
overcome different kind of challenges.

Where to start and when to implement new strategy. Also need to look into the existing
and upcoming problems. This may be a hindrance in smooth running of business.
The seven step problem solving technique covers:

Note: these are not the actuals for your EP lessons. These are only guidelines. Kindly
ask the students to come out with their innovative ideas. You can allow them to
research for details as per their chosen business plan. It should be a continuation of the
topic started 2 weeks back.
2b. Differentiation by Task (relating to higher & lower abilities, SEN, G&T) (25 mins):

Each group will create their step by step plan necessary on how to
solve their business challenges.
Thinking together Skills:
Giving reasons, sharing of ideas, thinking of alternatives and
reaching agreement.
Each group will come with their valuable points. The teacher can assign a president, a scribe
etc. to summarize.
Differentiation by Resources:
A questionnaire can be provided to some students who find difficulty in this kind of activity.
(Sample one attached for your reference).
You need to modify as per your class activity.

2. Plenary (10min): The students are given a post it, they pick out the best points of the research and
share it in their group. Teachers to ensure that they collect the post it and paste it in a A3 size paper
and laminate.

for the next day.
