Pattern Expansion

NON- Verbal Pattern:

1.RELATION BASED SUMS:

Question Format
A paragraph is given and five questions are asked from it. The paragraph must be
analyzed carefully to derive correct relation between the entities.
The questions might deal with Blood relations, Sequential Order of things,
Comparison types, seating arrangements
Tips:
Draw diagram with the entities given in the paragraph and keep filling the value
for Unknowns as you go through the passage. Once you fill all the Unknowns and
arrive at right or ordered diagram, it will be easy to answer the below 5 questions.
Example:
.There are six persons A B C D E and F in a school. Each of the teachers teaches two subjects,
one compulsory subject and the other optional subject. D's optional subject was History while
there others have it as compulsory subject. E and F have Physics as one of their subjects. F's
compulsory subject is Mathematics which is an optional subject of both C and E. History and
English are A's subjects but in terms of compulsory and optional subjects, they are just reverse of
those of D's. Chemistry is an optional subject of only one of them. The only female teacher in the
school has English as her compulsory subject.

2.Figure Completion :
Question Format
There would be figure given following a certain pattern.
Then four figure as choice would be given below
Tips :
The given question figure would follow a certain pattern Once you identify the
pattern of it you could easily neglect the Odd man out from the Choices given.

Missing pattern, neglecting areas to form image, Legends, Trail error method,
obvious one

3.Data Sufficiency:

Question Format
There would be a question asked and two or three data relevant to it will be
given below. You got to answer which among the data given below the
question is Sufficient to answer the given question

Tips:
Learn basic maths concepts &formulas like profit,
loss,Analytical, Geometrical, Simple Interest, calendar
concepts etc..
Example :
A. Statement 1 alone is sufficient but statement 2 alone is not sufficient to answer the question
asked.
B. Statement 2 alone is sufficient but statement 1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question
asked.
C. Both statements 1 and 2 together are sufficient to answer the question but neither statement is
sufficient alone.
D. Each statement alone is sufficient to answer the question.
E. Statements 1 and 2 are not sufficient to answer the question asked and additional data is
needed to answer the statements

a. Is the product of x and y greater than 60?


1. The sum of x and y is greater than 60.
2. Each of the variables is greater than 2.
Ans: C (Both statements 1 and 2 together are sufficient to answer the question but neither
statement is sufficient alone)

4. Data Interpretation:

There would be Statistical information given about an Oranisation, product or


situation in the Pictorial form like
Bar Chart,
Histogram,
Pie chart and
Line diagram
Questions would be asked from that diagram
Some Useful formulas:
Decrease Percentage calculation=( Difference/greater value) *100
Increase Percentage calculation=( Initial value/Increase in value) *100

5. Syllogism:
Draw Venn diagrams from the given Question Scenario and Compare it with
the multiple Options given.
Now Compare the Venn diagram and Check which of the Answer Options satisfy
the Venn diagram. Dont assume anything by yourself apart from the given
Scenario while answering.
Example:
All cats are dogs. Some cats are dogs etc.

Verbal Pattern:

Paraphrase:

Two Para phrase would be asked.


In which one would be lengthy and other would be shorter. This is generally used
to test your Reading Speed.
While answering, stick only to the content given in the paragraph and nothing of
your own thinking.
First read the questions given and make a note of their Key points (jist) in rough.
Then go through the paragraph and Concentrate more on sentences that deal with
the Key words.
Learn the given paragraph to know the tone which it likes to convey.
Theme Detection or Inferring Conclusions from Paragraph:
Stick to the paragraph while answering doesnt write answers of your assumption.
It would mostly go wrong
