Purpose This Specification details Chemetics requirements for rubber lined steel equipment Scope This Specification applies to sheet rubber selection, application, curing, testing and repair as well as fabricated steel components that will be rubber lined, Definitions Vendor Use in this Specification is defined as the rubber lining applicator Fabricator Use in this Specification is defined as the steel equipment supplier Codes and Standards 4-SPC-0040: Shop Fabricated Metallic Vessels and Vessel Components lists the codes and standards for design and fabrication of the vessel to be lined. NACE SP0298-2007 “Sheet Rubber Linings for Abrasion and Corrosion Service" NACE SP0178-2007 “Design, Fabrication and Surface Finish Practices for Tanks and Vessels to Be Lined for Immersion Service’. Note: Both of the above NACE publications can be obtained at nominal cost from www.nace.org Alternate standards must be approved by Chemetics. Additional Requirements The type and thickness of rubber lining will be agreed upon between the Vendor and Chemetics before lining work is started. The Vendor will be responsible for installing the rubber lining and delivering the finished equipment. The Vendor will therefore be responsible for ensuring that the Fabricator prepares all applicable ste! surfaces to meet the lining standards above. Quality control measures must be conducted by the Vendor prior to rubber lining application.
