EQUIPMENT: 32 padded hockey sticks, 16 gator balls, 30 hot spots, 25 cones, 32 checklists for each class
FOCUS OF LESSON: Passing & Shooting
NATIONAL (SHAPE) STANDARDS:
Standard 1: The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and
movement patterns.
Standard 3: The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a
health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4: The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects
self and others
Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks:
2.2: Use a variety of manipulative (throwing, catching, striking), locomotor (walking, running,
skipping, hopping, galloping, sliding, jumping, leaping), and non-locomotor (twisting, balancing,
extending) skills as individuals and in teams
2.7: Demonstrate responsible personal and social conduct used in physical activity settings.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES (SPO):
By the end of the lesson, student should be able to:
Psychomotor- Perform a shot in pillow pole hockey while moving and displaying 2 of the 3 skill cues.

Cognitive- Identify why it is important to follow through towards the target while shooting in pillow pole
hockey. (S3.E2.4)
Affective- Demonstrate good behavior by working well with group members and following stated safety
guidelines for 100% of the lesson. (S4.E5.4)
TEACHER PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES During the lesson the teacher will:
Hold students accountable for their actions by consistently desisting misbehavior throughout the lesson.
Be extremely clear with skill instruction and class management to ensure a smooth lesson with limited
confusion.
Clearly demonstrate where students will stand when performing the shooting and passing & shooting
activities.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in
this class?
When shooting, sticks must always remain below waist level to prevent any injuries.
Student who is not shooting or goaltending during Activity 3 must remain at a safe distance from the
shooter as to not get hit with the stick.
Students that are not working well together will be separated and asked to participate in different groups.
