By the time you finish your Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41415 with Inspire Education,
you will have a sound understanding of the Australian Safety regulations and best practice.

workplace and enable you to participate in an organisations OH&S/WHS Management Systems. You

health and safety, including aiding in the implementation of OH&S/WHS strategies to control risks and
emergency procedures.
The Cert IV in WHS (BSB41415) will help you to take that next step in your career, whether you will be
directly involved in workplace safety, contributing to OH&S systems in the workplace as a supervisor,
or providing support to your companys WHS systems in general. It is a valuable qualification that

Course Outline & Structure


Inspire Education has adopted a clustered approach for all of our Certificate IV in Work Health and
Safety (BSB41415) courses. Our New WHS course is divided into 3 major topics Safety Culture,
Safety Management Systems and Safety in Action plus a Practical Assessment workbook. This
means you will only have to submit 4 assessment workbooks to complete your course instead of
10 separate units!
Expected Study Hours: There are a total of 613 expected study hours for this course. This equals
approximately 12 hours of study per week for students in the 12 months online course, however you
may work at your own pace and complete your course faster if youd like!
Assessment Methods: Assessment is conducted using a combination of written questions, case
studies, and projects to give you maximum opportunity to develop your knowledge in workplace health
and safety.

BSB41415 Course Units


This current Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41415) supersedes the old Cert IV OHS
Course (BSB41407) and the old Cert IV WHS Course (BSB41412), and is now the new standard in
safety officer training and WHS.
The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41415) is comprised of 10 units 5 core units plus
5 elective units. Many workplaces look for the skills covered in this work health and safety course in
someone conducting safety officer duties. Our course elective units have been carefully selected to
enable participants to contribute to an organisations OH&S systems with confidence.

Core Units:
BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance and WHS laws
BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents

Electives:
BSBCMM401 Make a presentation
BSBRES401 Analyse and present research information
BSBWHS408 Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
BSBWRT401 Write complex documents
BSBRSK401 Identify risk and apply risk management processes

Other qualifications with some similar units include the Certificate IV in Human Resources or
theCertificate IV in Business Administration.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
BSB41415, however it is preferred that students:

Are 18 years or older

Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)

Hold a BSB30712 Certificate III in Work Health and Safety OR another relevant Certificate
III qualification OR some industry experience in a work health and safety role

Have basic computer skills
