BURSA MALAYSIA

Bursa Malaysia is a stock exchange in Malaysia where financial


instruments such as equities and derivatives are traded on a day-to-day
basis. In generally, the Bursa Malaysia was originally known as the
Singapore Stockbrokers' Association when it was established in the 1930s.
Also approved under Section 15 of the Capital Markets and Services Act
2007. The first formal securities business organisation in Malaysia was the
Singapore Stockbrokers' Association, established in 1930. In 1964, the
Stock Exchange of Malaysia was established. With the secedes of
Singapore from Malaysia in 1965, the Stock Exchange of Malaysia known
as the Stock Exchange of Malaysia and Singapore.
In 1973, currency substitutable between Malaysia and Singapore
stop, and the Stock Exchange of Malaysia and Singapore was divided into
the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Berhad and the Stock Exchange of
Singapore. The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange which was incorporated on
14 December 1976 as a company limited by guarantee, took over the
operations of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Berhad in the same
year. \
Bursa Malaysia has its own offering and their own product. Those
are their offering and product. Divided into 4 section are, Securities
Market, Derivatives Market, Islamic Offering and others. There are two
type market in Securities Market, Main Market which 823 companies in,
and Ace Market which 117 companies join it. Securities Market products

are, Shares, Real Estate Investment Trust (REITs), ETFs, TSR/Warrants,


Loan, and Bonds
In Derivatives Market, there are Commodity futures, Equity features,
Equity options, and Financial Futures. In Islamic Market there are five
products, Sukuk, Shariah Compliant equities, i-Reits, i-ETFs, and Bursa
Suq Al- Sila. In others, There are divided into three section; Bond Market,
Offshore Market and Closed-end Funds. In Bond Market, There are
electronic trading platform for Government Bonds and Corporate Bonds. In
Offshore Market divided into 2 products, Non-Ringgit Securities and Sukuk
Listing and closed-end funds is icapital.biz Berhad.
Bursa Malaysia also have their own structure, there are ten structure
in Bursa Malaysia. First Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd which provide,
operate and maintain securities exchange,Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Bhd
that provide, operate and maintain a futures and options exchange,
Labuan International Financial Exchange Inc. which provide, operate and
maintain offshore financial exchange, Bursa Malaysia Bonds Sdn Bhd
provide, operate and maintain registered electronic facility for secondary
bond market , Bursa Malaysia Securities Clearing Sdn Bhd that provide,
operate and maintain a clearing house for the securities exchange, Bursa
Malaysia Derivatives Clearing Bhd provide, operate and maintain a
clearing house for the futures and options exchange, Bursa Malaysia
Depository Sdn Bhd which provide, operate and maintain a central
depository, Bursa Malaysia Depository Nominees Sdn Bhd that act as a
nominee for the central depository and receive securities on deposit for

safe-custody or management, Bursa Malaysia Information Sdn Bhd


provide and disseminate prices and other information relating to securities
quoted on exchanges within the group, Bursa Malaysia Islamic Services
Sdn Bhd Operate all Islamic Markets businesses and activities initiated
under Bursa Malaysia.
