Saber Cat Wrestling

Hard Work, Respect, and The Will to Defeat Any Opponent in

Life.

Folk Style Wrestling is the

American form of wrestling and
what is practiced at the middle
school, high school, and college
level. This Sport emphasizes
taking down your opponent and
pinning their back to the mat.

The Saber Cat Mentality and

Wrestling Philosophy
I believe that Wrestling is the hardest trial our
athletes go through early in their life, and some may
not make it, but all deserve the chance to succeed.
My coaching philosophy includes treating all people
with kindness, respect, and fairness. A wrestler must
always respect their family, teachers, coaches, and
peers to learn the larger lesson that wrestling
teaches. When on the mat my wrestlers will always
respect opponents while also showing no mercy and
always working to win. Centennial Middle School
wrestlers will wrestle with pride, honor, respect, and
a relentless desire to do their best. I will push and
guide them to succeed on the mat and in life.

Wrestling Team Rules Overview

1. Give your best effort always, and follow the golden
rule.
Always
practice
proper
sportsmanship,
kindness, safety, and respect. Problems will be
solved in a kind, respectful, and mature manner by
both parties.
2. All commands from authority figures will be honored
and respected.
3. Wrestlers should keep zero dialogue during group
instruction.
4. Wrestlers are not to partake in risky behavior.

competition. Emotions such as these are not to carry
on outside of designated practice time.
6. The dress code must be followed (See next page for
dress code)
7. Wrestlers must be dressed out and ready to roll out
mats by the designated practice time. Tardiness and
absences will result in extra duties unless excused by
a parent or doctor. EVERYONE has the coaches and
the schools phone number, not communicating is
not a valid excuse.

The wrestler who beats everyone in their weight
class is varsity.
Wrestlers must weigh at a designated weight class or
below to wrestle in that weight class, wrestlers can
wrestle up one weight class but not down.
JV wrestlers who are deemed competitive and
deserving will have a chance to wrestle off for varsity
between competitions.

Varsity will wrestle at every single match.

JV wrestlers will wrestle in exhibition matches that
are just for fun and experience.
There will be five exhibition matches per match; we
do not know who will wrestle until we get to the
school. Please do not contact coach asking if your
son is going to wrestle exhibition as I will not be able
to answer everyone.
JV and Varsity wrestlers will all be invited to
tournaments on the weekends to compete for
experience.
