INTRODUCTION

What do shoppers usually consider about a product? In many cases, the answer is its
brand. In regard of this behavior, we designed Magento Shop by Brand extension,
which allows you to create and show Customers a page listing all the brands
alphabetically, and by category. These arrangements help Customers quickly find out
the brands and products they concern, thus saving them much more time. Moreover,
sales statistics and sales charts by brand are available to help you point out the bestselling brands to improve your business. It is worth considering, isnt it?

2. HOW TO USE
This section will show you how Customers can make use of Shop by Brand extension. The
extension is equipped with many interesting functions.

2.1. Brand listing page

Customers can go to the Brand listing page from either the Brands header link or the
Brands menu bar.

The Brand listing page will be shown as below:

This page contains four parts including Featured Brands, Brand by Category, Brand
List and Brand Instant Search Box.
Featured Brands
The Featured Brands part displays the logos and names of the brands you want to
spotlight to Customers. Customers can easily access each of those brands by clicking on
its logo.

This section supports Customers in searching for brands of the items they want to buy by
category. They can click on any kind of products/categories and then a series of brands
will appear for their reference.
Brand List

This part displays all brands of your site in alphabetical order. Clicking on the letter
above the brand list, Customers can filter brands according to the first letter.
As you can see in the picture below, some letters in the alphabet tableare made blurred
and unclickable. This indicates that there is no brand starting with these letters in the
website.

To see all brands, Customers can click on the All text link.
Brand Instant Search Box
On the right hand side of the alphabet, there is a Brand Search box. As Customers type
the brand name into the search box, there will be a drop-down list showing the brand
names matching the query. Clicking on a suggested result, they will be taken to the
corresponding brand detailed page.

2.2. Brand detailed page

When Customers click on any brand logo or name, they will land on a brand detailed
page.

A brand detailed page containstwo main parts: Brand Information and Sidebar.

A brands general information includes brand name, logo, description and clickable
brand banner. This is the overview of that brand.
o Featured product and All Product list
In these two sections, Customers can see all the products of that brand in recommended
order.
Sidebar
o

Brand instant search box

Similar to the search box on Brand listing page, this box will instantly suggest and lead
Customers to the relevant brands based on the texts they type.
o

Shop by Options

This section helps Customers filter and find products more easily by product-related
attributes.

Bestseller products

Here Customers can see the products with best sales on your store.

2.3. Product detailed page

On a product detailed page, Customers can see a logo and name of a brand that product
belongs to.

If Customers click on the brand logo, they will be navigated to itsbrand detailed page.

2.4. Menu bar and Sidebar

Menu bar

With the Brands section on the menu bar, Customers can access the brand listing page as
well as any brand detailed page on your website.

When Customers visit a Product Grid/List page, they can see a Side bar showing a
brand list as below:

Customers can click on any brand link to go to its brand detailed page. At the bottom of
Side bar, there is a View all link navigating to the brand listing page.

3. HOW TO CONFIGURE
You have viewed the features that Shop by Brand extension provides in frontend. Next,
we will go through how to configure all those features in backend.
From the Shop by Brand tab, you will be able to manage information regarding brands,
view reports on brands as well as set up the module.

3.1. Manage Brands

You can access Brand Manager page by clicking on Shop By Brand > Manage
Brands.
This page shows a grid containing all brands on your site with their information such as:
Name, URL Key, Logo, Featured, Status and Action.In this section, you can Add,
Import, Edit or Delete Brands if you want.

Add Brand

If you want to add a new brand, click on the Add Brand button at the top right corner,
then fill out data about that new brand. There are two tabs of Brand Information for you
to complete:
o General Information
In this tab, you can add general details for the brand such as Name, Sort Order, Logo,
Banner, Banner click-through URL, Featured, Status, Short Description and Description.
Besides, you can add SEO-friendly URL key, Title, Meta Keywords and Meta
Description for its brand detailed page.
Use Show/Hide Editor button to edit your Short Description and Description as you want
it to be shown in frontend.

o Products
In this tab, you can select products which belong to the newly added brand. In frontend,
these products will appear on the Brand Detailed page. Please pay close attention to 2
columns:
Featured: You can mark specific products as Featured by ticking the checkbox
in the corresponding row.
Sort order: You can change the products order in the product list on the brand
detailed page by putting an integer to this field. Products with smaller Sort
Order values will come first in the product list.

Once you have filled out the forms, please remember to click on Save Brand or Save and
Continue Edit button to save your work. Now your newly added brand will be displayed
on the Brand Manager page.

In frontend, it will be shown as the following:

In the Manage Brands tab, Shop by Brand extension also allows you to edit or delete
any brand you like.
o Edit Brand
If you want to edit a brand, just click on the Edit link in the corresponding row. In the
Edit Brand page, you can see four tabs in the left column. It means that besides main
data as you have seen when adding a brand, there will be two more tabs: Sold Items and
Sales Chart.
Sold Items
This tab shows all the sold items of this brand (product name,purchased from (store),
quantity, etc.). Thus, you can easily manage your inventory to meet Customers demand.

Sales Chart
This chart helps visualize the sales statistics of the brand so that you can grasp the
information more quickly and more effectively. In addition, you can view the sales chart
in many time ranges such as last 24 hours, last 7 days, current month, year, and 2 years.

After you finish editing the data, remember to click on Save Brand or Save and
Continue Edit to save your work.

o Delete Brand
In order to delete a brand, you can click on the Delete Brand button at the top of page or
go to the Brand Manager page, select the brand you want to delete, then choose action
Delete and click on the Submit button.
Import Brand
Choose one of two actions in dropdown menu of Import Behavior:
Import & Keep Existing Data: All information of current brands will not be
changed even when it already exists
Import &Replace Existing Data: All information of current brands will be
replaced by the new one that you import

Then, upload your csv file with brand information (click on here link to download the
sample file). Please note that only csv file is supported and must be the same as the sample
for successful import.
After hitting the Import Brands button, you will automatically redirect to Index
Management with the notification about the number of brands successfully added. Please
click on Reindex Data of Brand Url Index row. Go to Brand Manager to check what you
have done.

3.2. Brand Reports

In order to view brand reports, please click on Shop by Brand > Brand Reports. The
Sales Report by Brand page will be displayed as below:

On this page, you will see a grid displaying the number of sold items and total sales of
each brand. You can also search and export the grid to CSV or XML file. If you click on
the View sales chart link in the Action column, you will be taken to the Sales Chart tab
of the Edit Brand page.

3.3. Settings
Click on Shop by Brand > Settings to go to the Settings page. This section allows you
to configure the attributes of the module.
