TEXT 1
I was 15 when I changed schools from an international to a regular Portuguese Secondary
State school. The change came as a shock at first, for it happened overnight. My parents
decided that my school schedule in the 10th year was just way too heavy and that it didnt
make sense to keep on learning Maths, Physics and Chemistry, which were all compulsory
subjects at the German School, as I was more interested in Humanities: especially
Languages and Literature. At the time, I kind of agreed with them and felt both a bit scared
and excited at the thought of changing schools. But when it finally happened well, lets just
say that I remember crying in bed at night on those first few days. My Mum asked a former
pupil of hers to take me under her wing and that helped a bit because at first we were always
together and I didnt feel so alone anymore.
TEXT 2
