METHODOLOGY
The training approach is based on principles of adult learning with a focus on peer review during
all the steps of the training/learning event. The course models a variety of effective training
methodologies including demonstration, practice, discussion, brain-storming, buzz groups, case
studies, visualization and presentation. Once students have gained an understanding of inorganic
and organic chemistry, they can begin to apply their knowledge to learn the methods used in
chemical analysis. Among these are spectroscopy, gas chromatography, continuous analyzers
and sample conditioning systems.
STRUCTURE: One (1) On-line Training Session which will take 4-8 hours to complete
depending on the skill level of the Student. The On-Line training is completed 1-4 weeks prior to
the formal training class. This is followed by the formal training sessions which also include a
baseline and final exam.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS: Each session includes an introduction, learning objectives,
participatory methodologies, and activities. A pre and post course assessment and peer feedback
form on practice sessions are included.
TIME: 4-8 Hours of On-Line content and 16 hours technical content is presented in the formal
