- Always observe correct polarity when installing the batteries or using an auxiliary battery for start-up via jump-start cables.
Follow the Use and Maintenance instructions when starting the vehicle with jump-start cables.
- Always disconnect the battery negative cable before performing arc welding on the vehicle or any other tool connected to it.
- Position the welding device earth clamp as near as possible to the area to be welded.
- ATTENTION
If welding must be performed in proximity of an electric component, the component must be removed from
the vehicle.
It is recommended that this operation is performed by qualified and authorised staff.
- Prevent the welding device cables from being on, near to or crossing any electric cable or electric component while welding
is in progress.
25
During jobs requiring several vehicles, make signals normally known by all sta engaged. Moreover, appoint a person to give
signals and to co-ordinate the work area.
- ATTENTION
Ensure the following conditions before starting to operate:
- Make sure that the operator and the signalman know the hand signals in order to interact with each other
- Make sure that all sta follows the instructions given by the person assigned to signalling.
- The signalman must be easily identiable by the vehicle operator.
- The signalman must wear or grip one or more suitable elements of recognition, such as jacket, helmet, sleeves, wrist bands,
signalling disks.
- The elements of recognition must be in a bright colour, preferably unique, and used only by the signalman.

The right arm points downwards with the palm facing inwards
and slowly makes a circle.
Movement
Meaning
Description
Vertical distance
Horizontal distance
The hands indicate the relevant distance at the side of each other.
Move forwards
Both arms are bent with the palms facing the body, and the
forearms make slow movements towards the body.
Move backwards
Both arms are bent with the palms facing forwards, and the
forearms make slow movements away from the body.
The right arm is extended more or less horizontally with the palm
facing downwards and slowly makes small movements to the
right.
The left arm is extended more or less horizontally with the palm
facing downwards and slowly makes small movements to the left.
Rapid movement
Slow movement
The hand signals used to indicate the movements are made very
slowly.
27
During jobs in places where there is a risk of falling, rebound or intrusion of objects, which can hit the operator or enter the cab:
Assemble the adequate guards for operator protection.
Always close the windows.
Always make sure that the operators in the vicinity are at a safe distance and cannot be hit by rebounding or falling objects.
Pay attention to collapsing walls, landslides, falling material or objects of the equipment installed, which could hit the cab,
the structure of the guard or windows, causing damage to the vehicle and operator.
Do not work under overhang; this could give way and fall onto the vehicle.
Do not load or ll the equipment installed excessively or transport loads that could escape or fall to the ground.
- ATTENTION
In the event of risk from falling objects the helmet must be used.
3.6.8
Before working in the vicinity of overhead electric lines, check that the safety distance is sucient with respect to the Standards in
force in the country the vehicle is used. In all cases, never work near to electric lines at distances less than those stated in the table
below or the minimum distances indicated by the Standards in force in the country where the vehicle is used.
Wet land increases the area in which persons could be electrocuted.
Working or parking the vehicle too close to electric cables leads to the risk of electrocution or serious injury.
Engage a person on the ground to signal excessive vicinity to electric cables.
If work must be performed in the vicinity of electric cables, do not allow anyone to approach the vehicle. To prepare for any
possible emergency situation, wear rubber gloves and shoes, cover the seat with a rubber sheet and pay attention not to touch
the sheet with unprotected parts of the body.
- DANGER
In order to prevent electrocution if the vehicle should hit an electric cable, the operator must remain inside
the drivers cab until it has been confirmed that the distribution of electricity has ceased.
- DANGER
If jobs must be performed in the vicinity of overhead electricity lines, refer to the table below for the distance
to be kept from the same. The table is given in Legislative Decree 81/08 Attachment IX. The table is only valid
if the vehicle is used on Italian territory. Refer to the Reference Standards of the country of use of the vehicle.

Working in snow
-SNOW OR ICE
Snow hides obstacles and traps, buries objects, covers holes, excavations and ditches; therefore proceed with great care in the
event of a snowfall.
- PROHIBITION
It is prohibited to operate when the snow is such to prevent clear distinction of obstacle and traps on the
route.
- When clearing the snow, pay great attention not to leave the edge of the road; that buried at the margins could cause the
vehicle to roll-over or damage to components.
- Surfaces covered in snow or frozen surfaces are extremely dangerous. Operate with caution, reducing the vehicles speed as
much as possible and activating the levers slowly.
- Operate with caution. If the vehicle sinks in the snow, there is a risk of it rolling over and remaining buried. Pay attention not to
go o of the edge of the road and remain trapped in a pile of snow.
- Pay great attention to frozen land; with the increase in temperature the same loosens and becomes slippery.
- Pay attention to electric cables, ditches and excavated ground or that has been lled-in recently.
- Make sure there are no risks to persons during reverse manoeuvres.
- Always control the space around the vehicle before making any manoeuvre.
- WARNING
If working at low temperatures (-10C) empty the tanks and fill with lubricants, fuel and cooling liquids suitable
for these temperatures.
Accessories are available that facilitate work in conditions with ice or snow; contact your agent or authorised
dealer.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
8.1
Tyres
ATTENTION
Upon receipt of the vehicle, check tyre air pressure.
- Check tyre pressure every 100 hours and every two weeks. Pressure should be checked when the tyres are cold.
- Tyre pressure must always be kept at the indicated levels.
- Check the size of the tyres installed and the ply number to ensure they are inated to the correct pressure.
DANGER
Tyres that are torn or are excessively worn should be replaced immediately.
- Before each use, verify that the sides of the tyres are not damaged.
- Keep all oils, grease and corrosive liquids far from the tyres to prevent any damage to the rubber.
- To ensure maximum eciency do not use tyres with more than 80% wear of the tread.
ATTENTION
Inflating or working on tyres can be dangerous.
- Whenever possible, have specialised personnel intervene on or install tyres.
- To prevent serious or mortal injury, follow the safety precautions described below.
Vehicle tyres are very heavy. Handle with care and ensure that, once stored, they cannot fall and injure anyone.
Never attempt to repair a tyre on a public road or motorway.
Make sure that the car jack is positioned on a solid, at surface.
Make sure that the jack is suitable to support the weight of the vehicle.
Use jack tripods or other locking devices suitable for supporting the vehicle while repairing tyres.
Never place any part of your body under the vehicle.
Never start up the vehicle while it is on the jack.
Never hit a tyre with a rim or hammer.
Make sure that the rim is clean, and that there is no rust or damage. Do not weld, braze, repair or use a damaged rim in any
way.
Do not re-inate a tyre which has completely turned or that is much deated until it has been properly inspected by a
qualied technician.
Do not inate a tyre unless the rim is mounted on the vehicle or secured so that it will not move in the event that the tyre
or rim should suddenly break.
Never inate tyres in excess of the pressure indicated by DIECI. If the heel does not settle on the rim when this pressure level
is reached, deate the tyre and lubricate with a soapy water solution, then inate again. Do not use oil or grease. Ination
exceeding the permitted level on unsettled heels can cause heel or rim breakage with an explosive force that can cause
serious injury.
After having remounted the wheel, tighten the nuts between the wheel and axles. Check that nuts are tightened each day
until torque has been stabilised.
ATTENTION
When mounting a new or repaired tyre, use an adapter for the spring valve with a distance manometer which
allows the operator to keep away from the tyre during inflation. Use a safety fence system.
- PROHIBITED
Do not mount inflated tyres with polyurethane foam unless authorised by the manufacturer.
107
ATTENTION
The number of axle studs must correspond to the number of tightened nuts. Therefore all nuts must be
mounted on each wheel; otherwise the vehicle will not operate.
In the event of tyre replacement, the vehicle or the lifted side can be set on the ground only with tyres mounted and properly
tightened.
ATTENTION
Nut tightening must be carried out first with the vehicle, or parts of it, lifted from the ground, and then with
the vehicle on the ground.
Only use original DIECI nuts to tighten the wheels. Should even just a single nut be lost, contact the DIECI service centre.

Battery
- DANGER: BATTERY EXPLOSION
- ATTENTION
Wear protective clothing, gloves and goggles. Should contact be made with the eyes and skin, rinse
immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor. If swallowed, immediately contact a doctor.
- Do not overturn or tilt the battery: acid could come out.
- Recharge the battery in a well-ventilated place and always disconnect the power supply before disconnecting the terminals.
- Always use a voltmeter or a densimeter to check the battery charge. Use a torch to check the level of electrolyte and never an
open ame.
- Never place a metal object between the terminals to check the battery charge.
- Do not generate sparks with the wire terminals while recharging the battery or start the vehicle engine with an auxiliary battery.
- Make sure the caps and vent covers are tted correctly and tightened securely.
- Clean the upper part of the battery, make sure the terminals are tightened securely and cover them with a thin layer of Vaseline.
- Should the battery freeze, place it in a warm place and allow it to thaw. Do not use or recharge it: risk of explosion.
- In normal conditions, the battery is kept charged by the vehicle alternator. Should the battery be discharged completely due
to prolonged inactivity or having reached the end of its life, the alternator can no longer regenerate it. The battery must be
replaced and recharged by means of a special battery charging instrument.
- ATTENTION
Before performing any maintenance on the car, disconnect the power supply using the Battery switch.
117
Low maintenance batteries have been designed to avoid frequent routine maintenance interventions. Check the level of electrolyte
if discharged. Contact the supplier or the manufacturer for the technical specications.
8.4.2
- PROHIBITED
Do not perform maintenance or recovery operations on zero maintenance batteries.
118
8.4.3
- A battery is fully charged if, at a constant temperature, the electrolyte density and the voltage measured at the poles does not
increase within 2 hours.
- The eciency of each recharge depends on the general conditions of the battery itself. An old battery will not be able to obtain
the same life and eciency as a new battery after recharging.
- The simplest recharging method is to charge at constant power.
- Once charging is complete, the battery charger voltage increases and creates gasication. We recommend using simple battery
chargers with minimum current control and a switch-o timer.
- If the battery has a low level of electrolyte, top-up to the minimum level (just above the plate limit) and then charge. Fill up to
the maximum level once charging is complete (to prevent spills).
- Overcharging must be avoided because:
It is a loss of energy that causes water dissociation.
It produces a loss of active mass due to electrode deterioration.
It generates the risk of explosion.
- If sulphuric batteries are recharged with no voltage limit, they will boil and heat, thereby generating the risk of explosion.
- Old batteries (sulphuric in most cases) must be charged with caution. An increase in temperature is also possible at 13.8 Volts.
Follow the instructions below to charge the battery:
1.
Disconnect the wires of the vehicle from the battery to protect the electrical system of the vehicle.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Wait at least 5 minutes to allow the oil to settle in the sump.
2.
3.
4.
5.
- WARNING
Do not top-up above the MAX notch; if
topped up excessively, the oil is burnt and
smoke is produced, giving the false impression
that the oil is being consumed.
15-M0300
- ATTENTION
Never use the engine if the oil level is below
the MIN notch.

- ATTENTION
Operations can continue for no more than 1
hour once clogging is indicated.
- WARNING
It is recommended to:
- Clean the lters only when the indicator signals clogging
or at preset scheduled intervals. Unnecessary and frequent
cleaning exposes the components to handling damage,
which can allow dust and dirt to exceed the ltering phase,
thereby causing damage to the engine.
- Filtering components must be replaced if they come into
contact with any type of liquid.
- Regularly check that the bolts and clamps are tightened
properly. No air must be allowed to circulate in the engine
without having rst passed through the lter.
For complete lter eciency, it is recommended to operate
with the lter complete with all its parts and components
assembled correctly.
Any worn part must be replaced as soon as possible.
