Entering a Guest Room

Reasons we have the procedure when entering guest room.

1. To protect privacy of the guest.
2. To prevent embarrassment of employee.
3. To avoid any accident.
Procedure when entering s guest room:

Check the room status.

Check the DND sign.
i. Never knock or enter the room when the room displays the DND sign.
ii. Inform Supervisor if the DND sign has been on the door all the day, and

the room has not been service by 2 p.m.

Check the double lock, do not knock or ring doorbell if it is double lock. (Follow

the procedure as per DND room.

Ring the bell or knock the door, announce housekeeping for 3 times at 10

second interval.
If no answer, insert the key and open the door slightly and say excuse me. If

guest not in the room, enter the room.

If guest asleep in the room, leave the room quickly and silently. Close the door

slowly.
If the guest awake and dressed, wish the guest Good Morning and say Im
sorry sir/madam, I didnt mean to disturb you, would you like to have your room

clean sir/madam?
If the answer is Yes, thank the guest and proceed to clean the room.
If the answer No, ask the guest, At what time would you like me to return
sir/madam? Make sure to note down the time on your maid report, and come
back at the time promised.

Bed Making Procedure

1. Strip the bed by removing the bed sheets one by one to ensure no lost and found
items left behind by the guest. Strip off the pillow case also.

2. Place the blanket, bedspread and pillow on the chair or other bed.
3. Tighten and smoothen the bed pad. Change bed pad if it is stained.
4. Pull back the bed from the headboard (make sure the open space at the top side
is sufficient to you for make up the bed).
5. Spread the first/bottom bed sheet on the bed.
6. Tuck in topside of bed and corners (refer picture below for the corner bed sheet
tuck in).

7. Center the second sheet with wrong side up and pull up sheet to reach the end of
the mattress at the head. Do not tuck in yet.
8. Put on the blanket on the second sheet about 5 inches below the mattress edge
(topside edge).
9. Place top/third sheet on the blanket and pull until reach the top edge of the
mattress. Turn in top sheet under blanket. Fold the second sheet to the blanket.
10. Fold down the blanket and bed sheet about six inches in width to room for pillow.
11. Tuck in both sides neatly.
12. Move to the bottom side of the mattress. Pull back the bed to the headboard.
13. Straighten the bed sheet layer by layer starting from the bottom layer.
14. Tuck in the entire bed sheet and blanket into the bottom edge of the mattress.
15. Repeat the same fold as picture 1.0 for the bottom corner.
16. From the foot of the bed, hold the bedspread at the bottom end and pull down to
reach the desire length and evenly on all side. Flip over the bedspread evenly
with have just enough space for a pillow.
17. Put pillow case on pillows (picture 2.0). Position evenly on bed with the open end
away from the room entrance/door.
18. Smoothen bedspread with your palm and ensure that the overhang even on all
side.
