The Power of Your Amazing Brain

The conscious mind controls our brain only 5% of the day, whereas the subconscious mind has a hold of
our thoughts 95% of our time!
Conscious 5%
Subconscious 95%
You have 50,000 - 70,000 thoughts per day.
Thoughts are real
Your thoughts cause biological and physiological effect your body responds to mental input as if it were
physically real.
Boost your brain power with meditation, it is proven to increase IQ, relieve stress and promote higher
learning levels.
Listen to Music
Studies have proven that listening to music strengthens the brain and literally changes the structure.
66.66667% Fat. Fattest organ in the body.
Your brain is two-thirds fat. Myelin, the protective sheath covering your neurons is 70% fat. Eating fatty
fish, green leafy vegetables, olive oil, avocados, chia seeds, flax seeds and nuts replenish your neurons
and brain cells.
Loss of fatty acids EPA and DHA and linked to depression, Parkinsons and Alzheimers.
The Anatomy of Anxiety
What triggers it.
When the senses pick up a threat - aloud noise. A scary sight. A creepy feeling the information takes two
different routes through the brain.
1. THE SHORT CUT
When startled, the brain automatically engages an emergency hot line to its fear center, the amygdala.
Once activated, the amygdala sends equivalent of an all-point bulletin that alerts the other brain
structures. The result is the classic fear response: sweaty palms, rapid heartbeat, increases blood pressure
and burst of adrenaline. All this happens before the mind is conscious of having smelled or touched
anything. Before you know why youre afraid
2. HIGH ROAD
Only after the fear response is activated does the conscious mind kick into gear. Some sensory
information, rather than travelling directly to the amygdala, takes a more circuitous route, stopping first
at the thalamus- the processing hub for sensory cues-and then the cortex-the outer layer of the brain
cells. The cortex analyze the raw data streaming in through the senses and decides whether they require
a fear response. If they do, the cortex signals the amygdala, and the body stays on alert.

1. The brain consists of three parts
Fore brain: Controls all thoughts, senses, motor functions, emotion and huger.
Midbrain: Controls auditory and visual reflexes as well as awareness.
Hind brain: Controls co-ordination and analysis of senses.
2. The brain has two hemispheres
Left for analytical thoughts and right for creative thoughts.
3. The belief that we only use 10% of our brain is a myth. Every portion has a function and hard at work.
4. Your brain has 100,000 miles (KM) worth of blood vessels. Enough to circle the Earth four times.
5. And 86 billion (86,00,00,00,000 ) neurons. These cells are known as the grey matter which process
information.
6. Learning a second language before age 5 changes how the brain will develop later in life. These
childrens brain are able to produce denser grey matter by adulthood.
7. If the brain were a hard drive it would hold 4 terabytes of information. (80 Blue-Ray discs or 850 DVDR Discs.
8. What you eat affects your brain. One study of one-million students showed people who ate a lunch
without preservatives or artificial dyes scored 14% higher in IQ tests.
Another study showed people that ate seafood at least once a week had a 30% lower occurrence of
dementia.
9. 20% of the oxygen you inhale is used by the brain.
10. Men process the information primarily from the left side of the brain. Women tend to use both sides
at the same time.
11. There is truth behind the saying men are rational and women are emotional.
Women are more emotional because they have a larger limbic system which regulates emotion.
Yet, men have larger inferior-parietal lobules that controls mathematical ability.
12. In rare cases the brain goes haywire and these occur:
Exploding Head Syndrome individuals hear a loud bang coming from the middle of their head.
Phantom Extra Limb Syndrome- you think you have more limbs than you actually have.
Sleep Paralysis The inability to move your limbs upon waking up from sleep because the brain is still in
REM mode.
Each neuron is connected to other neurons by up to 40,000 synapses. Multiplying 86 billion neuron times
40,000 synapses is equivalent to the Brain having more connections than the Stars in the universe.

3
While awake your brain generates between 10 and 23 watts of power or just enough energy to power a
light bulb.
Your brain is made up of about 75% water.
A piece of brain tissue the size of a grain of sand contains 100,000 neurons and 1 billion synapses, all
talking to one another.
The information in your brain travels 268 miles (33.5 KM) per hour, unless of course you are drunk, then
things really slow down.
The brain itself cannot feel pain, as it lacks pain receptors. Headaches come from pain receptors in our
head.
