First Discussion:

taken to ANAC. Please be certain your pieces are ready for show and shipment.

2. NO GLASS, use Plexi-Glass available both at Ohlmanns and Andys Glass Shop.
3. Wire for hanging
If you have further questions you may refer to your state newsletter. Pieces will be taken to state by
Joan and Pricilla. ANAC is June 9-12, 2010.
At this time we will not be showing in the Library for the remainder of June and July as the Library will
be closed for painting.
Treasurers Report: Balance of $1330.17 and in the Doug Ballard account $ 706.23
Following this report, Pat brought up a subject we need to look into for advice. We are not a non-
profit organization so the question was asked if we need to have a tax number and report income tax.
Pat will ask a local tax specialists advice on this matter and will tell us at the next meeting what must
take place.
Sharing and challenges were the next subject of discussion.
The Resume challenge: One resume was turned into Pat. We do need to work on these as this is
information that will be recorded at state level. They go onto the ANAC web site.
The Photo Manipulation Challenge: Several members showed what they had done in photo
manipulation after learning many things from Anitas sharing her talents on this subject at the last
meeting. Joan showed an Acrylic over photo. Geri Coleman showed some color manipulation of a
butterfly photo that was just beautiful.
The White Challenge: Hedda shared a very nice piece she had worked on for this challenge.
Discussion then went back to ANAC and who was attending.
Joan and Pricilla will be taking the oil painting class with ANAC judge, Bob Rohm. A Scholarship was
discussed for the two of them to help with their expenses if they would bring back and share what
they had learned.
Joan will be helping to hang the ANAC show as our dear Henry has taken ill and he and Phyllis will
be staying at home during ANAC.
June Sheppard shared a Saran wrap start painting she is working on.
Pat shared Shear Heaven on Clay. Something we may all get to dabble in, in the future.
Hedda shared her sketch book in which we were reminded what great humor our Hedda has.
Joan shared some of the Logo Designs that she has done on t-shirts. Giving us ideas for our own
personal logo as that is the next challenge.
Joan also shared one of the last projects she and her students worked on, hammered metal jewelry
which looked very nice.
Reminders were given:
Artist of the Month for June is Doris Heath.
At this time Doris shared a piece with us that she had accomplished. It was a painting of her son
Frank, a very difficult piece for a mother to accomplish. Congratulations Doris and we do hope that
this was a healing experience for you.
Mary Black Bonnet Artichoker shared with us that July 16, thru 18th there will be a writers conference
held in Valentine at the Niobrara Lodge. Mary has been asked to share a reading. Please be sure to
join in supporting Mary in her writing and readings.
Dave Dorsey shared some pieces he has been working on for Nebraskaland Days, very nice works.
Dave said he would bring them back and share again when they were finished works.
Celeste presented her program, Skin Tones and the Palette, demonstrating how she achieves the
lifelike color of skin tones and the palette she uses. Celeste has so much wonderful talent and
knowledge to share with us. Many pieces were accomplished and it was very interesting to see the
different tones that were achieved using the same colors with different media. There was something
to be learned by everyone in this learning session.
Next meeting: As of yet the place is undecided due to weather conditions and aftermath of storms,
June 22 is the fourth Tuesday unless a afternoon gathering does occur this will be our normal
meeting time.
