AnnaChristinaNobre(knownasKiaNobre)isacognitiveneuroscientistinterestedinunderstandingthe
principlesoftheneuralsystemsthatsupportcognitivefunctionsinthehumanbrain.Hercurrentresearch
looksathowneuralactivitylinkedtoperceptionandcognitionismodulatedaccordingtomemories,task
goals,andexpectations.Inadditiontorevealingthebasicmechanismsoftheselargescaledynamic
regulatorymechanisms,sheisinterestedinhowthesedevelopoverthelifespan,andhowtheyare
disruptedinpsychiatricandneurodegenerativedisorders.
Herworkintegratesbehaviouralmethodswithapowerfulcombinationofnoninvasivetechniquestoimage
andstimulatethehumanbrain,suchaselectroandmagnetoencephalography(EEGandMEG),structural
andfunctionalmagneticresonanceimaging(MRI),andtranscranialmagneticstimulation(TMS).Funding
forhercoreresearchactivitiescomesfromtheWellcomeTrust,theNationalInstituteofHealthResearch
(NIHR),MedicalResearchCouncil(MRC),EuropeanCommission,andtheJamesS.McDonnell
FoundationProgram(JSMF).Studentsandfellowsinherlaboratoryalsoreceivecompetitivescholarships
