Global Terrorism

While the whole world is engulfed in the debate of how to fight ISIS, which makes no secret of its
intentions, no one seems to to worry about Pakistan, a state in possession of nuclear weapons.
Who are more dangerous; the bearded jihadi fighters with assault weapons driving pick up trucks
in Syria, or the mullahs, with connections to the military in Pakistan who have nuclear weapons?

Radicalized
that Pakistan has become a jihad factory, which has been a magnet for many European and
American radicalized muslims. While the West is outsourcing its production factories to China,
jihadism is now being outsourced to the West. How else can one explain what happened in
California, where 14 people were gunned down this Wednesday?
Muscular interventionist policies pursued by Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Mr. Hollande in Libya,
Mali and now Syria have also contributed to the alienation of the Muslim youth. Following the 2008
economic crisis, general unemployment in France has risen to 10 per cent but among the Muslims,
the unemployment rates are nearly twice that. Given the concentration of Muslim communities in
and around certain urban agglomerations (like Paris, Marseilles and Toulouse), networks of mosques
and Internet cafes have linked up with jihadi networks in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq and
now Syria. Like in Merahs case, radicalisation of the Kouachi brothers had also taken place during
visits to these countries. Today, more than a thousand French nationals are reported to have gone to
Syria as IS recruits, the largest number from any European country, matched perhaps only by the
U.K.
India cannot expect that it will remain insulated from the current mania that is afflicting even
countries with a much smaller population of educated Muslims. Instances have already come to light
of the radicalisation of Indian Muslims, and their numbers are growing. Known cases, such as those
of Mehdi Biswas, arrested after a Twitter handle supporting the IS was traced to him; Arif Majeed,
who is said to have had a stint with IS; and Salman Moinuddin, who was arrested at Hyderabad
airport, are only the tip of the iceberg. These examples are symptomatic of a growing global
phenomenon where the digital footprints of IS proselytisers are subverting the thoughts and the
beliefs of educated Muslim youth. It would be a mistake to believe that with the Indian Mujahidin
having been routed, the situation in India remains normal. The radical Islamist movement in India
must be seen as an integral part of the global phenomenon of a new ber-Wahhabi model of Islam.
At one level, this employs outfits such as the IS to wean away educated Muslim youth to the Islamic
cause. At the other, it has helped to create new affiliates leading to new terrorist franchises, several of
which are splinter groups from the erstwhile al-Qaeda network.

ndia (or any other country for that matter) would want a permanent membership to the UNSC for
two reasons. First, the veto power, which India could use to defend its interests, say against
Pakistan (just like Russia did last year over the civil war in Ukraine). Second, the sheer prestige
associated with permanent membership of a multilateral forum. Indias elevation will also be an

acknowledgment of its rise as a global power, ready to play a key role in the councils objectives
of international peace and security.
India also believes that the UNSC, which was constituted in 1945 after the World War II, does
not reflect the geopolitical realitiesthe emergence of a multipolar world order largely thanks to
the rise of developing economies like China, Brazil and India.
Also, India is the largest contributor to the UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO), with nearly
180,000 troops serving in 44 missions since it was established. India is also among the highest
financial contributors to the UN, with the country making regular donations to several UN organs
like the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF).
Who supports Indias bid to become a permanent member?
Indias candidature as a potential permanent UNSC member has received support from a vast
majority of nations. At several public occasions, four of the five permanent members have
supported Indias bid. China is the only permanent member that has been ambiguous in its
support for India, owing to its close ties with Pakistan. Other member states, like the United Arab
Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Malaysia and the whole of the African Union have also endorsed
Indias bid.
And who opposes?
Indias nuclear-armed rival Pakistan has been leading the opposition to its inclusion in the
UNSCs list of permanent members. Other countries, part of an interest group called the Uniting
for Consensus (UfC), also curiously called The Coffee Club, formed in 1995, are opposed to
India (and the
G4s bid) for permanent seats. Italy, Pakistan, Mexico and Egypt were founder members of the
UfC. The list also includes Argentina, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and Indonesia.

even though we were in different country. We saw people strggled and lost their lives right in front of
our eyes and could do nothing which eventually led to atatck in Afganisthan by USA to demolish
Mulla Omar's regime. If USA would have done this earlier, they wouldnt have lost their own people

and again on the other hand at the present moment they are funding Pakistan for various causes
including purchasing armaments having known the fact that renownmed teorrists like Osama Bin
Laden and Dawood Ibrahim are very much based there. They havent done anything to curb these
people who only made an atatck on Taj and killed the people of US and UK.We cant blame the
Government of US or UK entirely because British Prime Minister Mr.Gordon Brown has condemned
Pakistan and said it is done by them. Now people of US should join together to pressure their own
Govt to act against terrorists based or camping in Pakistan because it is only us,the common people
who can make this happen.
Terrorism. This word strikes fear into the hearts of many, and yet to others it is misunderstood. Terrorism
has no internationally agreed-upon definition, but essentially, terrorists are ideologically motivated and
use violence against civilians to create panic and fear, in hopes of changing policies or laws.
