FIDE Trainers Commission (TRG)

Appendix 9 - School Instructor Title

TRG in cooperation with CIS regulates the
School Instructor title. This title will be
considered the sixth TRG title, but with a
specific mission and value. The title is
designed to be awarded to Schol Teachers,
who fulfill the following:
1. Scope - Mission
1.1. Introducing the school student to the
basic chess regulations and broaden the base
of chess players worldwide.
2. Qualification - Professional Skills
Requirements
2.1. Teaching or will teach in School
environment.
2.2. Certain knowledge of psychology and
pedagogy.
2.3. Good knowledge of teaching the chess
basics.
2.4. Approved by the federation and the
state/nation.
3. Title Award
3.1. By successful participation in a 15-hour
TRG Seminar.
3.2. By accepting the FIDE seminar fee of
100 euros (if required).
3.3. By accepting the title award fee of 30
euros (no licence fee furthermore).
3.4. By accepting any other participation fee.
4. Financial
4.1. Main Regulations point 2 applies to
seminars for School Instructor.
4.2. The recommended estimated cost for
Lecturers fees for TRG seminars is 1.750
euros for the 15-hour seminar. That amount
includes neither travel expenses nor board &
lodging.
4.3. Various other expenses (auditorium,
bulletin, coffee-breaks costs) will be the
responsibility of the co-organizer.

5. Material
5.1. The seminar and the examination will
be based on the TRG Foundation Trainer
Guide book. Various other approved
manuals could be applied as well.
5.2. The teaching subjects will be mainly:

- Attack, Defence, Capture, Check, Checkmate, Stalemate
- All the Basic Rules

Literature
Pedagogy in relation to chess

6.1. For a 3-days Seminar (3x5):

6.3. Whenever possible, the seminar will
followed by a tournament for the
participants. This may occupy half a day or a
whole day (options). Chess clocks should be
available. This will provide participants with
valuable insights, especially concerning the
ways that psychology may be involved, as
well as the simple opportunity to reinforce
the basic knowledge of how the pieces
move. Therefore, there should be 1 hour
available after the tournament for questions
and to discuss matters arising.
7. Miscellaneous
For any other matter which is not described
here, the general TRG Regulations will be in
force.
